I only have one thing to say about El Maguey, ...PINESOL!!!!! My wife and I got there about 45 minutes before they closed. They told us that it was totally ok (well, the person who spoke English said that). The aposphere was nice, and the food was served quick. The food was good too. But within the first 5 minutes of us eating, a very strong smell of PINESOL filled the air! Where I was facing I could see that they were cleaning the floors in the kitchen. Now I do not know if, in fact, it was PINESOL, but I can tell you that is what it smelled like. The smell kept getting stronger and stronger. We tried to tell our waiter, but he didn't understand what we were saying (he barely knew English). Then the kitchen doors opened and they started mopping the floors all around us and some other couple! The other couple left gagging! The PINSOL was overwhelming! Our eyes were starting to water up from the fumes! We finally took the rest of our food to go. When we got home we had to take showers. The smell of PINESOL was in our clothes and in the food! We just threw the food away. I give them two stars because had it not been for their crazy cleaning it could have been an ok time. But to grade them for customer service they get a big fat F. how about a U with that too!
You gotta love this place. The service is fast, friendly, and the food - excellent! El Maguey is no Taco Bell, so if you're expecting American cheese on your nachos, you need move on. I don't know what kind of white cheese they use, but it is SO delicious! The servings are HUGE (never need a full order of nachos, trust me), and the price is very reasonable.
