Restaurant not representative of the great Pujols
First of all, if a restaurant really impresses me, I tell all of my friends. In general, it's only when a place really does poorly that I feel the need to warn the whole general public. Today, the latter case applied. I went to Pujols' for the first time today, and had really been looking forward to it. Like all St. Louisans, I love Albert Pujols. Unfortunately, during my visit to his restaurant today, it did not live up to his name... Seven friends and I met up there for lunch, and we all ordered a variety of items. Our waitress said that she was new, so we were patient with the fact that it took a while to get drink refills and second helpings of the cheddar biscuits. After waiting 45 minutes for our food, I was finally able to dig into my half-rack of babyback ribs. The sweet taste of the barbecue sauce was ruined by the fact that the ribs were cold... Since I didn't have time to wait for another order of ribs, I had the waitress take the item off the bill. I then tried some of the things that my friends ordered. The fish & chips had a crisp, tasty batter, but the cod inside did not taste fresh. I also tried a couple of pieces of the barbecue chicken pizza, which was pretty bland, and also tasted a balsamic vinegar side salad that my girlfriend ordered (which was okay). Finally, I tried a half a reuben sandwich, which was pretty decent. All-in-all, though, I think the restaurant definitely has some work to do. At first glance, the wide variety of menu choices is appealing. Rather than trying to do everything and being mediocre, though, I wish the restaurant would focus more on quality. I'd give them another chance, but it will most likely be after I hear something positive from a friend. I'm definitely not holding anything against Albert-- just his restaurant's manager.
