Happy China

Description

With a variety of choices on its all-you-can-eat buffet, Happy China is a great place to stop for lunch. However, popularity does have its drawbacks as the lines are long here, and the wait is longer. If you can stand the wait, though, the cuisine is worth it. Best of all, the buffet items are labeled. Chef Pa creates an array of sweet-and-sour, spicy and ginger-flavored pork, beef and chicken. Top off any selection with a crispy egg roll and some wonton soup.

Best Chinese Restaurant EVER!!! My husband and I have been eating there for about 15 years, and we have yet to find anything even close to it! It's a family run business, and the owners treat you like family. The food is always fresh, hot, and SOOO good! Plus, the prices are fair. There are more options than you can possibly eat at one time! Our 6 year old daughter even loves eating there, and picked it as where she wanted to eat for her Birthday! We will continue eating there forever, as I don't see them ever going out of business. They are a top rated restaurant in St. Louis, so others obviously share in this opinion! Enjoy, you won't regret it!

This place weirds me out. It isn't a bad Chinese buffet, but it is by no means the best. It seems to get a ton of good press and I just don't see why. First, the place feels like your in a basement. Everything just seems on and outdated...I guess it would be like going into an elderly person's basement that hasn't been touched in years...It is just dark, damp with no sunlight. Second is the lady that stands in front that cashes people out. She is rarely in a good mood and usually seems mad at something. Then as you are standing there, she yells something into a microphone. All the workers then come out and do something to the buffet. The food isn't bad I guess. Nothing is really labeled. There the standard buffet items that everyone knows, but they do have other dishes there that I have really never seen and they aren't labeled. No Chinese buffet has super friendly staff, but the lady in front just seems to be always mad at something...that, in turn, puts me on edge a little. I don't know...Just a creepy place that gets a ton of great press for some reason...

I will not eat here again. The food was not fresh and I suspect some items were left on the buffet from lunch. It was around 5:30 pm when we ate. My daughter noticed some items smelled strange, specifically one of the chicken items. She also said that the bathroom was not clean and very cold. Personally I ate green beans, and mushrooms and tasted the spicy crunchy chicken.

My favorite chinese buffet in St Louis. Moving from NY it reminds me of a NY chinese restaurant--prompt and firm (not friendly--but good) service, great Americanized Chinese food, and great selection.

I must be eating at a different Happy China because nothing these people stated is true. First it is a buffet how can service be bad at a buffet They keep your drink filled and take you plates away and they do it fast. Food is NEVER cold and it is not greasy. Lee and Jenny Pa run a tight ship and the help is always helping. Seeing that most bad reviews seem to come from the same person on the same date lead me to believe that someone must be jealous of the place and its success. This has been voted the number one buffet in St. Louis for years by the River Front Times. I am sorry that this place got slammed for no good reason. Go in and ask for Jenny or Lee and tell them Paul sent you.

Would rather die then go here
By david, 6/28/07
If you want to die, go here. Because you will get your arteries clogged. Grease's food in all of Saint Louis. Plus the decor is like going to an haunted house can't see what you are eating. And not much for selection at the buffet.

Service And Food Stinks
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/28/07
If you are into rotten service then this is the place to eat in St. Louis. If you are into very lousy food then this place is for you too. Cold food and disgusting conditions. This place needs a major overhaul to get me to go back.

Lots of Greasy Food Cheap
By Crunchyknees, 6/10/07
If you like eating lots of greasy food at one sitting then the Happy China is for you. Typical chinese food in Stlouis. Lots of cheap domestic vegetables soaked in soy sauce.
