Much of this island has been devastated and two-thirds of the population has fled abroad due to the eruption of the Soufriere Hills volcano that began on 18 July 1995.

They may not be easy to get to, and there might not be a lot to do when you get there — but that's the point.

The Soufriere Hills volcano that destroyed this Caribbean island's capital in 1997 shot a cloud of ash more than five miles into the sky, prompting evacuation orders for some homes.
