Citizen Kane's Steakhouse, St Louis

VERY DISAPPOINTING. Some members of our party were vegetarian and were told the the sides were, until they tasted them and found they were HAM based. The vegetarians asked specific questions before ordering and were given wrong information. The manager told us they would print ingredient lists to educate the entire staff, but made no offer of accommodations of any kind to the three vegetarians in our party to encourage a return. I WILL NEVER GO BACK!

I have been to this Steak restaurant about 3 times now and I am taking my husband there tonight for his 50th Birthday. They have the best steaks in St. Louis. The staff is great and so nice and accomodating. They deserve all of the accolades.

My wife and I celebrated our 10th anniversery at Kane's on July 18th, 2008 and though the steaks - both the strip and ribeye- were cooked excellent, the over-all value of the meal was less than spectacular.Atmosphere pleasent and simple but plastic table cloths are not my idea of elegent;though I am sure it saves the owners a great deal of money each month.Service was friendly but mediocre and though I mentioned our anniversery making the reservation and had items of celebration obvious at our table, our anniversery was sadly left unnoticed.The BBQ shrimp appetizer (a special that evening) was good (4 pieces) it clearly was a Dierdorf & Hart's copy.Save your money on the mushrooms - under seasoned and 'boiled' to finish rather than sauteed and finished with a nice wine and butter sauce. Salads elegant, simple and flavorful-we both enjoyed the house vinaigrette with blue cheese crumbles.The creamed spinach was enjoyable, the herbed-garlic mashed were fair. My wife had a very good burgundy wine sauce accompany but my Bernaise was not flavorful; the base hollondaise seemed packaged and very little Tarragon flavor. Over-all, I would split a small appetizer, get a salad and steak and save your hard earned additional cash.

We had 5:00 reservations right when they opened. We were seated within 7-10 minutes. My wife used the restroom before we were seated and had to ask for toilet paper because their was none in the bathroom. Not a good start to an up-scale restaurant. We both ordered filets with Garlic Mashed Potatoes, and salad with Vinegeratte dressing and my wife had the Mayfair dressing. The salads were very good. The waiter had to appologize that they didnt have any bread available yet. Not what you should have at an up-scale restaurant. The steaks were very good. Cooked to ordered and very tasty. The Garlic Mashed Potatoes were very average and bland. Overall the experience was average. Would go back if someone else was paying.

Great steaks! I always look forward to returning.

Joined our famiy for dinner on 11-24-07 here. My partner and I live in San Francisco (i.e., we know good food) and were mightily impressed. The filets were perfectly done - don't miss the peppercorn sauce on the side. Although we were a party of 8, again, service was wonderful. Great, intimate atmosphere. Cheers !

Extremely poor service once we got a table after they lost our reservation. Asked for manager and he/she never came to our table. Even though the food was good, probably won't go back.

One of the very best steak houses in St Louis...maybe the best... Always crowded...a bit expensive...we eat there for my wife;s birthday, you now, important dates...:)
