Hodak's Restaurant, St Louis

I love Hodaks chicken. Its not greasy and has a great crunchy crust to it. The prices are GREAT too.

A group of us (three couples) went there for dinner last night. We have been there several times before. Even though you usually have to wait in line for a table, the service has been pretty good and fast for us in the past. However, last night it was terrible. We placed our order and it took an hour and 10 minutes to get our food. At first, we thought they were short-staffed and that was why it was taking so long. But then we noticed all the tables around us that ordered a lot later than us were getting their food and one table that ordered after us even finished eating before our food came. No explanations, no apologies. The waitress stopped by ONE time and told us our food was coming. During our wait, she never brought us any more water or gave us updates on how much longer it would be for our food. In fact, when we looked for her, several times she wasn't even in the room. When the food did come, it was hot and good. No complaints there. Needless to say, we didn't leave much of a tip. Perhaps we shouldn't have left anything at all. Because of the long delay, we were late for an activity we had planned later that night. We have always liked Hodak's. However, last night's experience will be hard to forget and we may think twice before returning again. It would have been nice to at least receive an apology from the waitress (or the manager) or a discount on our bill.

Although primarily known for fried chicken, if you want a wide variety of food at very reasonable prices, with good service, this is the place. Lots of free close parking, and the interior is always nicely decorated according to season. There is a bar area, but sit in the upper level and it's a good place for the whole family.

This so called St. Louis institution is mediocre at best. The chicken is no better than KFC Do not waste your money here. All and all this place sucks and blows.

We don't like dark meat and are willing to pay extra for white meat everywhere but Hodaks where they just say no way to get white meat. Not very customer friendly. We won't go back. Mediocre food at best. We think the chicken is greasy and slimy

Until last week I had not been to Hodak's Restaurant in close to 30 years. My recent return visit was good. I like the complete remodeling Hodak's has done to their restaurant. The food is about the same, good chicken, fries and I will say nobody mixes up coleslaw like Hodak's.

My family is from Minnesota and on a family trip to St. Louis we decided to go to Hodak's after we saw the Rachael Ray show. We got lost on the way and talked to the nicest manager, I think his name was Scott. He helped us find our way and the food was excellent!! I would recommend to anyone!
