Gabatoni's Restaurant, Springfield

It used to be the best pizza in town but is now more hit and miss and can be very bland. It is a shame they must have a different cook now that does not know what he is doing and they need to fire him to let someone in there that prepares it like they are making it for themselves. I remember when Dave (can't remember his last name) worked there back in the 80's the pizza was always the best anyone could hope it would be.

We could tell that the pizza had been in the oven because it was burned when it was delivered cold an hour and forty five minutes after we ordered it. Some say it could have been worse because at least they delivered it. I say it would have been better if they hadn't.

We ate at Gabatoni's pizza Saturday night for my moms birthday and the pizza rocked! I use to go there when I was a kid with my grandparents and it was amazing!

We waited over two hours for the pizza to be delivered. When the pizza arrived, it was cold. I called the restaurant and the manager did not want to talk to me. When he finally came to the phone he was rude, accused me of cursing at him, which I did not. He told me that if I wanted another pizza, I had to wait for it to be delivered. I explained that I did not want to wait another 2 hours. He told me that was the only way he could take care of it. I was not going to wait until midnight for another pizza. The management of this restauraunt has done it an injustice. WHILE I HAVE TO SAY THAT IT PROBABLY IS THE BEST PIZZA I HAVE HAD IN A COUPLE OF YEARS, the manager has left a bad taste the customers mouth.

Love their pizza. Have been eating it for years and so has my family. But I had the worst service and my family was treated worse than any other place I have ever been. Left and did not eat that night. Will go back ,but only for the pizza , not the service. Service gets a poor rating , But I would rate the pizza great.

The best pizza in Springfield, thin crust with plenty of toppings.the biggest and best chef salad with real turkey and homemade dressings. I have eaten most of there food and they are all tops in taste. Great atmosphere and family friendly. To me this is down home Italian great food.

In early August, for the first time, I ordered a medium sausage, onions, mushroom and green pepper pizza and I was disappointed, but the crust was very good. Very chintzy on everything plus the sausage was tiny, tiny. I will try it one more time and then that's it. I will try two more places that were recommended: Bella Milano and Sam's.

I moved away from Springfield when I was 16 yrs old in 1969 ... for the past 30 plus years I have told my family that Gabatoni's is the best pizza I have ever had. This July we went through Springfield on vacation just to go to Gabatoni's. For anyone not from Springfield ... Don't judge a book by it's cover! The building has not changed inside or out in 40 years ... But neither has the pizza! It is still the best I have ever had and worth the 5 1/2 hour drive!!! The pizza was great and the memories priceless!

Just visited Gabatoni's had the EBA 16in (everything but anchovies) that i did not understand because it was limited to the first 7 items not the last 6 so i don't know where the name comes from. I do like anchovies and you can usually tell what a place is like by the number of toppings they offer.I avoid any place that does not offer anchovies, even if i don't want them today(just is not Italian without it).pizza was good, thin crust dusted with corn meal,toppings good,sausage fresh,mushrooms CANNED booo! BAD!,the $1.50 dinner salad for $4 BAD!,service good, very neighborhood down home family feel.pizza price good $18.50 for a 16in 7 topping big pizza.avoid the canned mushrooms and dinner salad. Great place to go to enjoy the music (Dino,Sinatra,Armstrong) eat good pizza and beer is served also.not 5 star but a very strong 3 1/2 to 4,take out the canned mushrooms and dinky salad then a good 4+ (pizza hut is a minus -6)
