This place was horrible. Soup was ice cold. Sesame chicken was all dark and fatty meat. We couldn t even finish our meals. We will never go back. Anyone who says this place is good knows nothing about good Chinese food.
Luckily I live by this place b/c it's that good. I was going to Hunan Express for a while but this place is so much better, hands down. I like the comfortable restaurant environment too. Although I usually just call it in and do take out. Just try it! Awesomeness awaits you :-)
I've been here a few times with my uncle and great uncle. It was my great uncle's favorite restaurant. The food is good, the staff is nice and the dining room is nice. The music playing on the overhead speakers is a nice touch.
Tai Pan is the best I've had so far in Springfield. I'm not very big on Chinese food, but I do like their beef chop suey and pork fried rice very much. They have lots of fresh vegetables, and you can have your food made to order. Friendly staff too. I prefer take out, but they have a charming family dining room for those who like to dine out. It's a nice place for those who like authentic chinese food at an affordable price.
We have been a fan of Tai Pan for 10 years. Their casual atmosphere and friendly staff are enjoyable. We love their Cashew Chicken, Sweet and Sour Chicken and Chicken and Vegetables. You cannot go wrong with Tai Pan. Most of the time , we order carry out - and its always delicious and always hot.
Thanks Tai Pain!
Tai Pan offers a very nice Sunday lunch buffet. With Buffet City closing (RIP), we have tried so many chinese restaurants that just paled in comparison to B.C., but while Tai Pan doesn't have nearly the quantity of dishes as B.C., the dishes they did have on their buffet were nearly all done to perfection.
I highly recommend the sesame chicken, spicy shrimp, and meatballs. The Lo Mein, crab rangoons and egg rolls are just slightly subpar but that's a quibble. You really can't go wrong with anything from the buffet.
Friendly, quick service, great value and a nice cozy atmosphere made for a very enjoyable dining experience!
I do have to say that my all time favorite Chinese restaurant is First Wok in Lincoln, IL. However, upon moving to Springfield, we tried oh so many Chinese restaurants trying to find one that we like the same way we liked First Wok. We were disappointed by many...but not Tai Pan! Their crabmeat rangoons are awesome and they are always very friendly. Take out is quick and dining in is relaxing. I would highly recommend it....I would also highly recomment First Wok in Lincoln if you're ever that way.
