Took the back roads from St. Louis to Quincy. Didn't see any place worth stopping. When we got to the Hampton Hotel in Quincy the clerk suggested the Patio. Since it is right next door we walked over. Went in the hotel entrance by mistake. It looked gloomy. Followed a side door to the restaurant. What a sleeper!! Great steaks, just what we had been looking for!! Good service too. Would return if I was in the area.
I've only been there three times. Once was nearly fifteen years ago. The second was about five years ago, and the third was about five months ago for the pasta bar on Thursday night. I loved the pasta and couldn't even begin to take advantage of all of the choices available to me. It was fun, too, to watch the food be made fresh and hot in front of me, to my specifications exactly.
The wine was good. I don't really remember the garlic bread or the salad, so my guess is that they didn't stand out much in any good or bad way. I like the atmosphere because the seating is done so that you feel like it's a smaller, private and cozy place, with candlelight, etc.
In my opinion., the Patio has established itself as one of the top 5 places to eat in Quincy. Great food and service, an excellent selection with reasonable pricing makes it a place I go back to a couple of times a year. Parking can be a bit of a pain, but worth it.
I went here for a work party and it was decent, not wonderful but pretty good. We got the pasta bar which is much better than it sounds. You actually get to pick your ingredients and watch as the chef sautees everything right before your eyes. My pasta tasted great but not all the food was as wonderful. The garlic bread was cold and hard and the salad, while not terrible, was boring and not something I would expect from a restaurant (it was just bagged store-bought salad with a slice of tomato and egg). The ranch dressing is good and the desserts (cheesecake, turtle sundae, and creme broule) were all very delicious. I didn't have to pay for this meal and I may have been a little more critical if I had.
Do not take a date whom you are romantically interested in to this restaurant because the atmosphere is a bit uncomfortable. It's really dark in there which is more creepy than romantic because it made me wonder if the darkness was concealing filth.
