I have to say I am a little bias since I grew up in Fairview Heights but this place is great. It has not changed much since I was a kid and I hope it never does. It has been around forever against the competition of every big box or chain restaurant that comes to town.
Dandy Inn has some of the best food around and is about as consistent at they come. Whether you get the cod or the whole catfish, the frog legs or the lizards (livers and gizzards), pizza or fried shrooms, you will not be disappointed.
There are no white table cloths here. Come in your jeans and t-shirt. This place is all about being who you are. Whether you eat or just hang at the bar, anyone can be comfortable at Dandy Inn.
Pretty much any given day or night you can find Mark (the owner) running around the place working hard. This is definitely my kind of place. If you are from the area or just passing through, make sure you check the place out.
We've always enjoyed the chicken wings, but yesterdy we ordered pizza and I would have to say on a scale to 1 thru 10 I'd give it a 2. The crust was so hard you could barely cut it with a knife. When I said something to the waitress, she just said sorry. Half of it was inedible,I felt like I should have been given another choice or at least part of my money back. I will never order pizza there again.
I would normally rate the Dandy Inn a 5 - tonight it was a -1
there were 4 very rudy offensive men who were allowered to be racist and offensive to Women and drive people away,

they bragged about how many TABLES THEY DROVE AWAY!
the Bartendender did Squat...
Upon entering the establishment I was greeted by a foul smell. The bartender and the wait staff did not greet me or my friend. The bar area was not crowded at all and very dimly lit. After my friend and I cleaned off the table ourselves and set down, we waited for the staff to come over and take our order. After several minutes we decided to go to the bar and order drinks. The waitress finally came to remove the trash from our table and did not acknowledge us. After finishing our drinks we came to the conclusion that we were not welcomed and left. WILL NEVER GO BACK!!!
