Thank you very much. This forum very useful information.
I hope you can take the time to visit the website, www.thai-food.in.th. It is only just beginning but I think you will eventually find it to be a great resource to learn about Thai food basics and beyond.
No one can argue about the popularity of Thai food today. From Tokyo to Toronto and all places in between you will find, at the very least, one restaurant serving the increasingly popular fare. Simply peruse your local bookstore’s cooking section and you’ll find multiple titles dedicated to Thai food. Why such great interest in the dishes of this small country located at the center of Southeast Asia? Inside the website www.thai-food.in.th we will try to explain the phenomenon by bringing you the depth of Thai cuisine. This includes the regional differences among similar as well as varying dishes. We hope you will learn the amazing variety that exists from the spicy grilled Laps in the North to the smooth and fiery Gaengs in the South.
In addition to exploring the basics of Thai food, www.thai-food.in.th will provide helpful explanations of Thai ingredients including the various herbs, fruits and vegetables that are common to the tropical country. We’ll teach you about naturally sweet Thai desserts and the common Thai beverages that accompany Thai food.
As the website grows, we’ll be adding recipes so you can try your hand at creating exotic Thai dishes as well as bringing you on a face-to-face journey to stalls, stands and restaurants around Bangkok and the country so you can see, first hand, how the Thais enjoy their unique and complex cuisine. We’ll include some of the most popular places to find particular Thai dishes and, hopefully, get a couple of secret recipes along the way.
I hope you can take the time to visit our website, www.thai-food.in.th. We are only just beginning but our hope is that, as time goes by, you’ll find it to be a great resource. We hope that whether you are just beginning your exploration of Thai food or you are looking to expand your understanding, you will find what you need at www.thai-food.in.th.
We're always looking for a new dining experience and decided it was time we tried Thai food. This place had been recommended to us so we looked up the location on Yahoo maps and had no problem finding it. The food was great and the server was very helpful to first-time diners. The prices are reasonable and the decor is pleasant. We also met the owner, Apple, and she is very friendly. A new business sign was being installed the day we were there identifying it as SALA THAI so it will no longer be Thip's.
History of Sala Thai: Thip's Thai Cuisine of Belleville has been opened since August 2003 located on 1229 Lebanon Avenue, Belleville, IL 62221. The restaurant was owned and operated by Thip & Jim Carrico and Thip's sister, Apple Summers. The business was a great success, therefore, in 2005, the Carricos decided to open another Thip's Thai Cuisine on Highway 50, O' Fallon. The name of the Belleville location had remained the same, until later in 2007, changed to SALA THAI solely owned and operated by Suchera Apple Summers. The business is going very well because they offer the best authentic Thai dishes with fresh ingredients, warm atmophere, and friendly service. The restaurant is daily open from 11am to 0930 pm and offers dine-in or carryout service. You can contact Sala Thai via phone at (618)277-7900 or fax at (618)277-7901 or visit them at 1229 Lebanon Avenue, Belleville, IL. They also have a website: www.salathaibellevilleil.com.
I recently found out that there is now only one Thip's Thai Cuisine, and it is located at 701 West U.S Highway 50 in OFallon, Illinois. Thip's Thai Cuisine in Belleville was sold in 2007, and now has a new owner and new name Sala Thai Restaurant.
This is a place that you can go in or oder out and can't go wrong! I love this place!! The service is top notch and the food is awesome. I used to go to China King, but this is now my favorite local spot. The cooking isn't as heavy on the oils, spices and sauce either. They are really good to repeat customers! :-)
If your looking for a different kind of Asian food other than your daily cheap and low quality Chinese buffet, this is the place to go. Thip's offers high quality Thai food while having one of the best customer service around. The wait time is about 5-10 mins after they take your order. To go and pick-up orders are sometimes faster. Some of the servants may not speak good English, but they know where to go to when they need help understanding their customers. Their Pad Thai is great, and their curry dishes are unrivaled. They accept Visa, Master Card debit and credit cards.
