Best german food for the area: If your looking for authentic german food this is the place.I have been going here for 2 years now since discovering this restaurant. When entering the place its dimly lit and enough room to move around.I usually get the sauerbraten and is alway delicious. All the side dishes are excellent but if I had to pick, it would be the creamed spinach mmmm this is the best. They also have an extensive list of german beers so theres many to pick from. The atmosphere is very cheery also and they always have the german music playing. Me & my girlfriend got to hear "achy breaky heart" in german so that made are evening lol. By all means if your in Peoria or just looking for a fun evening with good food visit this place, its the best. **UPDATE 9/2010** took my girlfriend here for her birthday and its still a great place as usual. We had the mussels in a wine sauce which were excellent. She ordered the salmon and it was very moist & flavorful with some delicious red cabbage which she liked very much.I ordered the yaegerschnitzel which was really good and the gravy was good as well.We really love there creamed spinach that they make,it sooooo good.We live away from Peoria but when we get a chance we always try to stop here. This is the best german food in the area.

I am not sure what happened to the quaility of the food, but it has really gone down hill. My husband and I would eat at Hofbrau a few times a year when his German grandfather was in town. We had not been there in over 2 years (since his Grandfather has passed) and decided to go a few weeks ago. The red cabbage has a strange taste, the saurkraut is straight from the can but watered down and the salad is almost $4.00 for a small pile of head lettuce! The jagerschnitzel was pretty good and so was the creamed spinach, but overall such a sad disappointment that we have no plans on returning. We really enjoyed Kaiserhof German Restaurant at the Shoppes at Grand Prairie and will be going there when we have a taste for good German food.

Fabulous Authentic German Food
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/2/07
If you want some great German food, visit the Hofbrau house. Although the location isn't all that great the atmosphere is great if you like the authentic bar/grill type of place. Every famous german dish is available with great luncheon specials. A must place to visit and eat!

Taste of German

If you like a good lager and sauerkraut, this is the place for you. It's a small building, but you feel like family the whole time you're there. The Honey Wheat is my favorite!
