Stopped in while going thru town, haven t been there in a few years. It was always a go-to place, but no more. The service was terrible, the food not worth the price, & the drinks were very very expensive. I don t mind going a nice place & paying a fair price, but this place has changed for the worst. Very very very disheartening because we always loved going here, but never again. The atmosphere was like if you don t spend several hundred dollars you ain t s#@t Too much attitude at the bar, they were a$$holes. Sorry, but this place sucks! period. Drive 20 minutes to Dubuque, IA & there are a dozen nicer places with by far better food & service for 40% less.
My wife and I ate here and were both very disappointed. I had the seafood platter (probably not the best choice at a steak house) and was amazed how they were able to make a variety of seafood taste completely the same. Hint: Sprinkling paprika over everything for color doesn't suddenly make it great. My wife had the lamb and was equally un-impressed. The service was fine but at these prices I expected a bit more. We will not be returning.
Looking for a fun, relaxing night in a great atmosphere? Do you have a significant other you would like to spoil with a great meal or do you have a family with crying and laughing children? Then hit up Mainstreet in Downtown Galena, and go to the Log Cabin with an empty stomach!
Galena has attracted tourists from all over the country for decades and the Log Cabin has been devoted to serving every one of them with an unforgettable experience. The moment you walk through the door you will hear the bar-side tunes. Your attention will be focused on the autographed pictures and their glowing reviews covering the walls. When your eyes drift downward, you will begin to salivate when you see the case of the freshest meats and fish. Soon after, the cutest little man, the owner of the family business, will escort you to your table without ever forgetting to give you a smile. The flavorful smells lingering throughout the candlelit restaurant and the flaming saganaki being served, what seems like almost every 5 minutes will make it impossible for you to leave without a bulging stomach! If your dinner didnt fill you to the brim, the flaming ice-cream dessert will!
My family has been going to the Log Cabin since 1985. Now, we bring our friends, recommend it as a must go to anyone who will be vacationing there and cannot wait for the day we get to bring our children.
My family and I have been enjoying the Log Cabin for years. A no-nonsense meal with a friendly atmosphere and a great staff. Whether you enjoy steak, fish, or something else, the diverse menu will give you options. The staff is always willing to go the extra mile, and they really do foster a great relationship with their customers. Outstanding and personal service coupled with some wonderful food, and a lot of it. You can't go wrong with a steak, and make sure to start out with the saganaki.
I came here told it was a nice place with live music. I get in there and it is SO dark I can hardly see in front of me, I get a soda to find out they dont give refils in their ice filled small cups. the steak isnt far from $20, not bad if its good, I ordered it well done and form what I could see (I had to wold the candle next to it) there was red juice comming out of it. I had them take it back, I get it back and it resembles a rock, but red on the inside. I leave wondering where the live music was, and it was in the bar. Not great if you have a family.
The food was awful, I could get better at dennys, it was WAY to dark and the service was non existant. There are plenty of restaurant in the town, go to one of them instead of this.
