We visit Galena 3 or 4 times a year.On a recent trip,, my wife and I stopped at Boone's Place for a drink. After receiving the bill, I questioned the price of our drinks, which were both $2.00 more than similar establishments in Galena.
The bartendar was very apologetic, but a lady, who I assume was a Managerial person, was very abrupt and snippy, in stating that this was top shelf liquor, which we hadn't requested. Without belaboring this point, I will say that there are many nice places for food and drink in Galena, but we will not return to Boone's Place and will pass our opinion along to our acquaintances.
I have been involved in Marketing and Customer Service for years and this lady does not know the first thing in Customer Relations.
Both are made on site and very good. When the weather is nice request to sit on the patio where you can even bring your dog. Prices are average and atmosphere is casual. They always seem to be open when other restaurants in town aren't.
Before doing a wine tasting downstairs the ladies and I decided to venture upstairs to Boone's for a bite to eat. The server was very helpful and the prices seemed to be right in line with the other places we had eaten. We certainly will visit again.
we eat here everytime we visit galena. We have found it has great food for the cost, not expensive, delightful outdoor eating area, excellent service that allows you to linger, chat and relax. We've eaten at other places on Main, but this is our favorite.
Since there are a lot of cafes and pubs and winerys in the downtown area, there isn't that much for kids to enjoy. This place had stuffed animals and signs and pictures to give the kids eye candy. The kids menu was pretty decent, and the value was pretty good. There's only two 'kid-oriented' restaurants in the city, and this is one of them.
Great food. Great service. Great staff and Daniel Boone is the best. You can't go wrong visiting Boone's. You can visit anytime of the year and they are open quite a bit. Very handy location right at western edge of Galena. Be sure to buy a couple bottles of wine in the wine shop downstairs.
