Palermo's Italian Restaurant

Description

In 1975, the Caldarone family expanded, purchasing the property at 3751 West 63rd Street (63rd & Hamlin), where they remain today. There, the Caldarone family built the present pizzeria, restaurant (seating up to 85 people), and banquet room (seating up to 150). Both the restaurant and the banquet room were recently remodeled in 2001. The 63rd Street location is frequented by regular customers who have visited regularly for decades, as well as new customers discovering the delicious, authentic cuisine. In addition to dining-in and planning banquets at Palermoac2s, customers also enjoy the convenience of delivery and catering. Palermoac2s of 63rd Street now has two locations to better serve its customers: the acoeoriginalac location at 63rd & Hamlin and a new location in Frankfort (446 South LaGrange Road, just north of Route 30), which recently celebrated its Grand Opening in May 2006. The Frankfort location, owned and operated by Frank, Lia (Baio), and her son Paul serves famous Palermoac2s pizzas, appetizers, sandwiches, various entrees, and salads. The Frankfort location also offers a wide variety of catering selections as well as delivery.

Perhaps the best pizza I have ever had. It is relly good. The sauce is sweet and full of flavor, the crust is decent but not spectactular. If you like sausage, then you must eat this pizza, Palermo's has by far the best sausage pizza I have ever eaten. On the downside, it is not a good value, it is pricier than most pizza joints and they are really skimpy with the ingridients, you would think for what they charge for the pie they would at least supply a good amount of ingridients, but sadly that is not the case.

when i went there i ordered garlic cheese bread and the order was like a little bigger than a slice of regular bread and they had the nerve to charge 4 dollars! i was mad so the ownner gave it to us for 2.75 and then we ordered a large stuffed pizza and that cost more than a giordanos pizza but it ad half the amount of cheese so i wasnt imressed. the pizaa had good sauce but there wasnt enough cheese on it it was mostly all ingredients and crust this pizza would have been better if they added more cheese.

I had the opportunity to visit Palermo's on my recent visit to Chicago. The quality and service are second to none! The sauce is the best that I've had anywhere in the US. I have not been to Palermo's in about 20 years and the food was even better than I remember it. Chicago has many Italian restaurants but I would encourage both locals and visitors alike to make the trip to this family owned establishment. This family is hard working and really cares about its customers. I had lasagne and fettuccini in the dining room and had pizza to go and all was delicious! I plan to visit again on my next trip to Chicago. You won't get anything better than this!

I gave it a one star cuz i had too otherwise it would be negative 5 stars.... My family had a banquet there and the owner Frank was the rudiest person we have ever dealt with!!! The food was god awful. The place needs an overdue overhaul. The carpet is still wet with from years and years of split food, drinks, god knows what else. Never Again. And the funny thing is, we spent about $17 a person and we had over 65 people there!! I do have to say that the Servers were some of the nicest people you'll meet and they kept apologizing for Frankies ignorance and rudeness.

So, you live in the Chicago area...hungry for something for dinner. Pizza sounds good - where do you go - what do you order? I would recommend an X-Large pie from Palermo's. Tasty sweet sauce. Tons of sausage. Served HOT and FRESH and VERY FAST. We had it delivered and was told one hour - it came in 45 minutes. $3.00 delivery charge. Came with a 2-liter bottle of RC. The three of us tore that pizza up and it was gone in a few minutes. The aroma of that pie was awesome. We ripped it open and ate it until only crumbs were left.
