Sorry to say, that I picked up a loaf of D'amato French Bread at Caputo's and it was by far the absolute WORST I've ever eaten. Course and dry with no flavor of any kind. Won't do that again.

This bakery is in the heart of the old Italian stretch on Grand and Racine, and is famous for their tasty breads and pastries. Try driving by on a cold winter night and you can smell fresh bread in the air! The sesame seed breadsticks are absolutely the best. They also have wonderful wheat frizzelles. In fact, In fact, I have never had anything bad here. This place is your number one stop for great Italian bread in Chicago!
