This place has good, cheap, food. There's almost always a long line of people waiting for their turn to order. I recommend their biscuits-- particularly when they've just come out of the oven.

I don't get the hype or the rave reviews. Valois is DISGUSTING. I have lived in Hyde Park for seven years and I ventured inside for the first time on Sunday (9/30/07). My friend wanted to go there and she loves the place. I ordered pancakes, bacon, and coffee. My food tasted horrible. The pancakes taste like a generic brand, the coffee was weak or perhaps I'm just spoiled by Starbucks rich coffee blends. The only thing that I liked was the bacon, but really who could screw up bacon??? I'm sorry I will never step foot inside Valois again. I like well prepared, good quality food and Valois does not offer that.

good deal for the money

this is a neighborhood staple. if you live in hyde park on a budget and love home cooking any night stop into valois. you will find that everyone eats here from almost famous people to the i havent seen you in sooo long. if you stop in make sure you try any and all of the breakfasts being served until 4 pm and the ribs.

"An Exhilirating Dining Experience"

Every time I dine at Valois it is a wonderful experience. I loved the fast-paced demeanor of the short order cooks as they dish up remarkably tasty food. The breakfast menu is my favorite with large portions of french toast, turkey sausage patties, cheese eggs and grits cooked to perfection.

It's a pretty understated place, but it's the place to go to get a good big breakdfast for a bargain. It reminds me of a cafeteria. If you go on the weekends, be there before 10 a.m. or it gets crowded and hard to get a table. You bring your food to the table, but they have staff to clean up after you(don't forget to tip). It's in Hyde Park, and you get a big variety of people. Great for looking around. If you eat too much like I always do, you can alsways walk it off in the nearby park. The lunch and dinner isnt too bad, but breakfast is my favoritye and the most popular. Great place for people with children.
