Al's Beef, Chicago

This review is for the Als on Ontario. I watched Als Beef on the Travel Channel and was excited to try it on a recent visit to Chicago. There were only about 4 parking spots, so we ordered take out through the drive in window. When we got home we found we were missing a sandwich. We called, and they apologized and said it was still on the counter. We divvied up the food we did have. The polish sausage was OK, but nothing to write home about. The beef and sausage was disappointing. The same polish sausage and very small amount of Italian beef. The other italian beef sandwiches were ordered with provolone cheese. Of course, there was no cheese of any kind on the sandwiches. When I reported this to the guy at the counter, he said the provolone was on the bottom. I told him there was NO provolone anywhere and that Al's Italian Beef was a big disappointment. He shrugged and went back to sweeping the floor. The food and service were both terrible. I don't know if all of the stores are like this, but I'll never know because I'll never go back. The next day we all went to Portillo's and had great sandwiches. Portillo's saved the day and served the Italian Beef that I was looking for.
