Lawry's the Prime Rib - Chicago, Chicago

Was told Lawry's was great, so our expectations were high. Salad was fun to watch, but was drown in salad dressing. Prime Rib was tasty, but 40% fat. Gravy way too salty. Only part of meal that met expectations was the lobster tail and dessert. The WORST part of the meal... No one asked us how our meal was. It was assumed to be fine. They let us leave without knowing or caring if our experience was good. Resting on reputation can put you out of business if you stop caring what diner's think. It's a shame... We were looking forward to it! Not worth the money!

Food, service, everything is excellent. I Have had Prime Rib at other places not as good. Lawry's VIP member and consistent diner here.

We went here in March for girls dinner. The food is just not that great and it was overpriced. Things were on the menu that they were not offering that night, our waitress did not know the menu at all. Not to mention the overall energy in the place was dated. Their famous spin bowl salad was extremely overrated. There are just too many other great steak houses in chicago to waste your time at this place!

This was our second and last visit to Lawry's. A bouquet of silk flowers at the entrance says it all.....this place is living on its reputation. A Monday evening at the beginning of June, 20% occupied mostly with tourists. We decided to try the 'new' rib eye steak, medium rare, without the bone. After an average salad, the plates came with only warm rather dried out steaks although they were still pink inside. The advertised saute potatoes seemed to be the usual mashed potatoes. We can eat better rib eye and prime rib as elegantly here in Tennessee at half the price!

on june 4, 2009, i was in your restaurant with a family group of 9 others.........when the time came to pay the bill, we decided that each couple would owe $ 150.00......our waitress, mandy s, charged $ 300 on my credit card and $ 300 on another couple's card (the rest of our party being charged correctly).....when we brought it to her attention, she seemed unfazed, but did re-do the cards for $ 150 each.....if it hadn't been for our 2d party noticing the overcharge, we would have both been out a total of $ 300........i would hope that the overcharge was an oversight.........regardless, on my next visit with my wife in chicago, i am relatively sure we will not plan on an evening at lawry's.............we will begin a new family tradition when gathering with our chicago relatives when we visit....... jerry brueck

My first memory of Lawry's was in 1984-85 before the Bears one the super bowl; I was very young and for some strange reason my family was there for dinner. I was able to meet and get the autograph of Richard Dent. After that I always wanted to return. In High school I was trying to impress a girl and took her there for our first date; 18yrs and counting we still go there every year for our anniversary! The food is great and the service has been very good as well. We have gone with our 2 young boys and one of them is a hands full but we have always had a good time. The wait even after reservations is a bit of a drag but well worth it.

We absolutly Love the place. The food is wonderful and the service is remarkable. This is one of my favorite resturants in Chicago. The wait is a bit long, even with reservations, but it's TOTALLY worth it.
