Whenever my wife and I are craving some real Japanese food, we go here. The food is always delicious and authentic, and the sushi wonderfully fresh and well-prepared. And a little salad and miso soup tides you over until your order arrives (my wife is in love with the salad dressing they use). The ambiance is just right, somewhere between formal and relaxed, and never fails to remind me of the locally-owned places I used to love to go to when I lived in a small seaside town in Japan. The wonderful way they greet you coming in and thank you as you're leaving likewise evokes fond memories of my time there (I'm sorry, but other Japanese restaurants are totally Americanized in this regard, and not for the better). Prices are fair--more than McDonalds, of course, but more reasonable than a lot of other Japanese restaurants. It's great for a dinner before a movie date, with several theaters in walking distance, and anyway if you happen to be downtown and want a taste of Japan, definitely check it out.
