Cafe Iberico

Description

Free-flowing sangria, mouthwatering tapas and friends who do not mind leaving their watches at home are all ingredients for a perfect evening at Cafe Iberico. The prices are reasonable, the menu has a stunning array of choices and the atmosphere is Barcelona with a heavy dose of Chicago. Salmon flakes, hot goat's cheese and grilled fig sausage get rave reviews. Appetizers are quite reasonable, so eat to your heart's content. Wines and sherries make the perfect accompaniment for your delicious meal.

I have been to Iberico many times, but haven't been back in a while...and I have to say that things have changed, and not for the better...the service was completely inattentive (at a tapas place, wouldn't you expect that a bunch of empty serving plates might draw attention?), the paella was pasty... I'm hoping it was just an off night, but fear that they have simply gotten too mainstream.

Horrible. Absolutely horrible. Some friends and I stopped in here and thought it would be all right. No way. They lost / forgot / misplaced my order repeatedly. They kept telling me, "just 20 more minutes," or "just 15 more minutes," etc. At the end of a full hour, my friends had finished eating and were ready to leave. NOTHING for me yet. Finally, food arrived for me, but it wasn't what I ordered, and it wasn't anything I would have wanted to have ordered. Truly awful, truly inexcusable service. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to my worst enemy.

The service is super fast, the food is very very tasty and cheap. the only downside is the restaurant is very noisey, definitely not a place for a quiet dinner for two. Definitely recommend to those looking for a fun, yummy place.

One of the original outposts of Tapas in the city, Iberico remains consistently excellent and authentic. I bring tour groups of from 12 to 35 people here (and eat here on my own), and it's always a delicious meal with friendly efficient service. A real standout!

Consistently good tapas in a lively atmosphere.

One of the older tapas restaurants in town. No reservations on Friday and Saturday means long waits. The tapas, while good tasting are fairly standard with few surprises and the decor is rather plain.

Loud, friendly tapas bar. Wonderful ambience. Great sangria but the food quality is no longer terrific. The sauteed mushrooms were spongy while the Spanish ham platter was very ungenerous.

The food is still good. Affordable wine by the bottle. Nice to go early and get a table without a wait, but felt like we were eating with tourists and Michigan Avenue shoppers.
