Dao Thai Restaurant and Noodle Place
For a change of pace, try Dao Thai Restaurant and Noodle Place. It seems that most of the restaurants along and off Michigan Avenue are either Italian, American, themed or a little of each. Veer onto Ontario Street and check out this Thai spot that serves all the traditional favorites and retains the traditional platform, or below level, seating, as well. For a restaurant in this area, the prices are quite reasonable.
Dao is the best asian food restaurant for family with children in the downtown of Chicago.
- The food is good for price. Almost all dishes are below 10 dollars.
- It has not-so-spicy dishes that children can eat.
- Waiter and waitress are very friendly
I went there for a quick lunch and I arrived before the lunch crowds came in. The food was good for the price. Try the mild yellow curry (quite good). I tried one of their soups and it was on par with other places.
The food was excellent. I have eaten at several Thai restaurants and this restaurant has them beat. I love to cook and would love to get some of their recipes. If I lived in Chicago this would be one of my regular places to eat. The service was good but their was a bit of miscommunication but all was fixed. They also could have been more attentive in taking our order as we sat for a while before they came back. All in all we had a great meal and would return if ever in the area again.
I work near this place and had ordered take out a few months ago and while it was not the best thai food i've had, it was pretty good for the value. I ordered take out again today with three other coworkers and all of us without exception thought the food was awful. I don't know why there was such a change from a few months ago- the noodles were overcooked, bland, with hardly any sauce. Beef and chicken were chewy and dry. I can't see any reason to ever go back here...
