Giordano's Restaurant and Pizzeria

Description

Since its opening in 1924, by two brothers from Italy, this local favorite has received numerous prizes. It really is Giordano's famous stuffed pizza here, have no doubt. While this local chain restaurant has several locations, this is the biggest and best. The Mostaccioli here is more than simply tasty. Lasagna Florentine with Alfredo sauce also holds its own.

This restaurant's location may very well cater to tourists, but I was one, so I don't know for certain. What I do know is that the stuffed pizza our party of 4 enjoyed was worth every bit of the $30 and 90-minute wait. We had a few beers and an appetizer at the bar while we waited and met some new friends. It was an expensive pizza, but the four of us there for a bachelor party left with a slice uneaten (of one large pie). I'm not a big stuffed or deep dish kind of guy, but this will go down in my memory as "Chicago style," and I loved it!

This as I was told from a resident of Chicago is just a tourist place. The food was awful and they lie about the wait time. We were a party of 5 and they told us 15 minutes. So we waited with everyone else after one hour and 10 minutes we were seated by the bathroom. We had ordered the pizza ahead of time and it was cold when they brought it. In other words, keep looking for some place else to eat... Save your money and your time!!! Not worth either one.

The "stuffed" pizza was good, but not Lou Malnati's good. Worth going here but not worth going out of your way for. Don't get me wrong, the pizza was good, but not incredible.

Delicious deep dish pizzas. The cheese is under the sauce and the crust is a great mix of cornbread. Authentic chicago style pizza recommended to everyone! Careful though - just one piece will have you stuffed! The very polite staff makes the whole experience a pleasure.

I come in and get a deep-dish, stuffed pizza with cheese and mushrooms and take it home and share half with my mother (an old Chicagoan from wayyy-back!) This pizza is what God feeds to the Angels in Heaven, it's THAT good! I loooove the gooey cheese!AND it's good, cold, the next day!

I have lived in Chicago all my life, and I love Giordano's pizza. It is not my favorite thin crust, that goes to Vito and Nicks, and it is not my favorite stuffed, that goes to Lou's. However, Giordano's is excellent pizza. There may be a lot of tourists in the city location, but there are a ton of Giordano's in the suburbs and I think that is telling. They make a good quality pizza, both thin crust and deep dish.

Why is there even a discussion about who has the best deep dish pizza in Chicago?
