Grand Lux Cafe
Global cuisine reigns supreme at Grand Lux Cafe. Burgers, pasta, pizza, giant salads, and meat dishes ranging from wiener schnitzel to Jamaican pork tenderloin grace the wide-reaching menu. The Grand Lux Cafe is also an excellent destination for brunch on Saturday or Sunday mornings, with a menu that includes a number of different egg dishes as well as brioche French toast, Belgian waffles, and traditional buttermilk pancakes. One thing that you won't want to miss at Grand Lux Cafe is the dessert. As a sister restaurant to the Cheesecake Factory, it should come as no surprise that a number of cheesecakes are available for you to choose from. However, if you aren't a cheesecake fan, or are in the mood for something different, there are plenty of other options to tempt your palate. Several desserts must be chosen when you order your entree, as they are baked to order. The molten chocolate cake and warm rustic apple pie are two such desserts that are definitely worth trying. If the sweet tooth hits after you have finished your meal, no worries, as there are still plenty of fresh-baked cakes or pies to choose from. Chocoholics will definitely not want to miss the fudge cake collision;a huge portion of rich chocolate cake slathered with hot fudge and vanilla ice cream.
I have been there before. Ok food....prices not bad. Had a great seat at the window. Saw everything going on Michigan Ave. Server had a really bad attitude and service is extremely slow. Much better places to eat in the city. I don t understand why anyone would wait 1 hour to eat at this restaurant. Mcdonalds is in walking distance.
This was my second time dining at Grand Lux located at the Sawgrass Mall. THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT BOTH TIMES. I didn t want to eat the food because it was so good. The wait was 10 minutes top and the service was good.
This is a restaurant that is very busy and goes along with the flow of down town dinning.
I did not like the service here at all it was obsolete to say the least. My cousin had a gathering of over 20 plus people and they gave us very poor customer service. They gave our table away and we had over a 2 hour wait to get seated. Once upon entering the dinning area there wasn't any provisions made for all of us to be seated in adjoining tables. They had to seat 8 of the guest attending across from us. We were suppose to be given complimentary appetizers for inconvenience of us waiting so long to be seated. They failed to do that as well. I will however say that the food was fine and the bar staff was the best over all. I would never recommend this place for very large gatherings.
The cost is a bit steep if your on budget this wouldn't be the right place for you to dine.
Also there valet service was unorganized they take entirely too long to park your car and bring it to you. We had a 15 minute wait for the valet to park our car and the other guest were waiting a long time as well. Maybe it was very hectic and this way cause we went on a Saturday in the summer. I didn't care for GRAND LUXE at all and won't be dinning there ever again any time soon.
Grand Lux is a good place to bring your family. It's very family friendly. The place is usually busy, but it's worth the wait. They have about a million things to chose from, which if you have kids that are picky eaters is great! The service is great as well!
Just went to the Grand Lux last night for what was supposed to be for my birthday. You aren't able to make reservations but when we called they said it would only be about a 30 minute wait. When we got there it was at 1 hour and a half. People are all over the place waiting around on the stairs, the floor, in the eating area and it was very poorly managed. Finally got seated at 9:35 P.M. in the bar which was terrible and loud. One of the main reasons why I always wanted to try this place was because it looked so cool from the outside. SInce we were in the bar, I was never able to see the rest of the place. Server was as bland as the food and not helpful at all. She kept running away from our table and when we tried to get her attention she wouldn't acknowledge us. We pre-ordered our dessert which took way longer than the expected 30 minutes that she said which was when she started to ignore us. Think she forgot to place the dessert order. After three hours of waiting, eating a bland dinner, and waiting some more for dessert and valet parking was super happy to just leave and go home. Never again will I go there. Ditka's is much much better.
Yes we are natives of Chicago and long time patrons of Grand Lux.On our recent visit it was again an outstanding experience. The Decor is great.Ask for a window table and enjoy the Grand treetop view of scenic Michigan avenue. The food is always consistent. The service is attentive.A great value for the money considering the high priced Michigan Avenue Location.
2.5 out of 3 YUMS awarded tor this eatery...
I had pasta, very bland and boring for $15. The waiter forgot to put in our order which made our wait an extra 45 minutes for food...not cool. We were late getting to the parking meter, luckily we didn't get a ticket. The key lime pie was good but $9 a slice isn't realistic, how about you cut the piece in 1/2 and charge $4.50. We're fat enough we don't need a 3-serving piece of pie people!
