Portillo's Hot Dogs
The hot dog is truly American and here in Chicago boasting their own spin on it is Portillo's Hot Dogs. The diner-esque place is thronged by all; families with kids, workmen on lunch breaks and the guys in suits. Known best for their service and great, juicy dogs, Portillo's is simply a favorite here in the city.
I live in Texas and make it a point to eat at Portillo's everytime I am in the area I enjoy an Italian Beef with Hot peppers - it's the best sandwich I have ever encountered of my travels in the good old U.S. of A..
i went there about a week and a half ago while i was in chicago and all the food was good...
my friends ate from the other parts of the restaurant that have pasta and what not.
will def go back next time in chicago
Portillos is AWESOME. I insist on eating at least once everytime I come Chicago. If the others want to go someplace else, they can just leave me at the curb at Portillos and pick me up after they have disappointed themselves someplace else. Hot Dogs are great!! Beef is amazing and service is pretty good too. Don't pass it by!!!
I ate here for the first time a few weeks ago & it won't be the last! I got the beef n' cheddar sandwich. Yum! It's the best beef I've ever had! Perfectly tender with the right amount of cheese.
It did take them a long time to get our order ready. The four people who ordered after us got their food before us. But the food was great and the prices are cheap. My boyfriend didn't like his hot dog and once he tried my beef sandwich, he wished he would have got that!
I recommend to go and sit in the outside seating. The birds are friendly.
There is no better cure for a hangover than a combo with Giardiniera. Giardiniera is a hot Italian relish of peppers and veggies that blows open your sinuses. The Combo consists of an Italian Beef (par-bolied Beef Roast) with an Italian Sausage on a chunk of French Roll. Get it 'dipped' to make it really juicy. If Adams and Smart, 86 and 99 had their show in Chicago, they would have eaten these every day.
