Gaylord India Restaurant, Chicago

Be it customer service, behavior, food or ambiance, these guys topped in everything. The food and environment both were very homely. The food was neither too spicy nor too mild. We went for the lunch buffet and very immensely pleased with everything. There was lot of stuff to be eaten, each better than the other one. The price is also really adequate for a downtown restaurant serving such wonderful Indian food. I would recommend you all to give it a try - its worth trying. I would surely go there if I visit Chicago again.

We visited this restaurant on 2/21/2011 for lunch buffet. The food obsoutely disappointing. None of items are spicy or no salt at all. All the dishes are blonde, sambar was stale and I suspect it was from previous day. None of the items was warm enough. Gulab Jamun and rice pudding were not very sweet or warm. Infact, I expressed my concern to one of staff there,and I said I had have table salt to put in every dish. He said it is good for me, and further commented that they cannot add salt or spices just for me. I said there was not salt at all forget about adding extra. The response was very irresponible. I would never go to this restaurant again and would not advise any one waste money there.

I was not overly impressed with this restaurant.The waiters and service staff were good but the food is def not authentic. I ordered chicken tikka masala and the chicken had that over boiled taste as opposed to the smoky grilled taste it should have if prepared properly... rice was disappointing as were the overall quality of food. Flies buzzing around our table did not enhance our experience, skip it if you are looking for an authentic Indian cuisine experience.

This is the best Indian food in town. 100 E Walton St location is now open. No longer at 678 N. Clark Street.

I was waiting for them to open up ,This was my first time going to Gaylords at 100 east walton street and I will definitely go again!!! It was busy and there was a wait so if you make a reservation they seat you in less than five minutes. Our waitress was fantastic...she knew the specials. The atmosphere was energetic and the dining room it self has a dark romantic feel to it even though i was there with friends it was still nice. The tandoori Chicken didn't need any sauce it was excellent and full of flavor. The desserts were awesome the Pistachio Kulfi was not super sweet and that made it even more satisfying. I cant wait to go back!!!

The Food is Yummy! Love the Buffet, it changes daily. Service is Good. Well, waiters are sort of pleasant. It's worth the experience if you have never had Indian Cuisine.

This Indian eatery is a neighborhood filled with bars. It would be easy to overlook it. That would be a shame. The Indian food and the service are simply outstanding, and the prices are quite reasonable. The ambiance may be more western than Indian, but everything else is so great, that is a small consideration. On seperate occasions, I took a friend here who does not ordinarily eat Indian food and a group that had never heard of it. Both were won over instantly.

The food is decent but not authentic. The flavor has been toned down for the taste buds of Americans (words of my Indian friends). It is still very tasty and a great value. Very nice setting and music in the background to totally set the mood.

Love this place. Visited it twice in last one month and food is just gr8. Planning to go again as son as possible. Would give it 4 outta 5.
