Those of you fortuante enough to have passed through, Illinois, during the 50s and 60s. you'll probably remember Lill homesich diner on highway 50,the homesick knew how to feed you, real beef burgers, homemade chili, fresh baked bread and pies and plenty of good, hot coffee.
Not been there for a few years so my memory may not match current day happenings (so let us know what the real deal is should you go) - anyway, I mainly remember cheese fries and terrifyingly saucy waiters who my dad teased - kinda an impromptu, interactive comedy show!
The food was on par with what you expect from a greasy spoon / diner. This was my first time there, but I could tell this place had lost much of the allure it had 10 years ago. Yes the place is all decorated and the wait staff wear funny costumes and are rude on purpose. They got on the tables and danced. This is probably more a kids place now than anything else.
This yr was my second time of going. I went last yr and it was fun and we really liked this waitress named Frenchy. She was funny. This yr the waiters weren't very much and very disorganised. The food it too much for what its worth, but for the atmosphere and the whole craziness of it all its kinda fun, but not something I'd do everrytime I go! However we don't have anything like that here in Tulsa, Okla, it is fun though.
yep, that's right... the staff are paid to be rude to the customers. it's pure entertainment!
Last time I visited I was with my brother. we had an awesome server - he employed a lazy & cynical attitude - totally funny. we had a great time!
(the hot fudget sundaes were good too)
That basically sums up this place!! If you want to spend a dime on crappy dinner food and pay $6 a beer then this is the place to go. It is a fun place to go though is you go with a group or have kids but that's basically it!!
