I have tried the pad thai at every thai restaurant on tayor st., and this place makes it the best. It costs a little more than the other places, but is well worth it. Try it with duck, not conventional but very good (not for someone trying to count calories)

I was born in Thailand and grew up there more than 30 years. Golden Thai cooks some foods that have the original taste as in Thailand, but somes are made to match with Americans' taste buds. I recommended Som tum, which is so good and has similar taste to the original Thai som tum. Tell them how much spicy you want (1-2 chili should be enough for persons who cannot eat spicy.) Another menu, I recommend, is Pad se aew todd too. However, the taste will be better if you eat when it is hot. Other foods are ok. No mud sa mun though...the taste is not original.

I have been going to Golden Thai for the last couple years and I eat there at least once a week since it is So Good and So affordable. The cuisine is traditional family recipes, some items you won't find in any other Chicago Thai restaurant. One of the nicest aspects of the restaurants is the generous portion at an affordable price with most chicken and beef(steak) main dishes ranging from $4.99-6.99, and some of the fancier seafood dishes or special meals costing more. The Massamum curry is fabulous. The family that runs the restaurant are originally from Thailand and are very friendly. The appetizers are such a treat that I often order 2-3 as my meal instead of a main dish. Crag Rangoon is made with whole cream cheese and crab not the oily watered down cream cheese that some restaurants use in this town. The cocanut ice cream when they have it is made with real cocanut, not dried cocanut. All of the fruit ice creams are excellent. They have pick up and delivery service most of their open hours.
