Located in Chicago's exciting theatre district, in the city's "Loop" area, Petterino's offers prime steaks, fresh seafood and classic specialties. Featuring a 1940's style look, with original drawings of actors who have performed in Chicago, Petterino's celebrates the Golden Age of Glamour and the Theatre while offering delicious cuisine with a full menu of favorites from tomato bisque soup to a shrimp de jonghe to fettuccine alberto. Pre-theatre and after work specials are available daily. Petterino's location is ideal for business lunches as well as a break from shopping or touring in the nearby State Street and Millennium Park venues. Pre-theatre diners have the option of leaving their car with Petterino's while they attend the show and can then pick it up after the performance is completed.
Went here after the Chris Tucker show and was totally dissatisfied with the food. Overpriced prime steak which had no flavor was ala carte. Overall, I will not recommend this place. And the food n drinks were overpriced.
Our family of 8 went to Petterinos for dinner prior to going to the theatre on New Years Eve and I have to say it was one of the very best dinner experiences, the atmosphere, service and food were excellent, the waiter was very informative and pleasant.
As you can imagine with 8 people the orders were varied and everyone of us was well satisfied with our dinners and desserts. Will highly reccomend Petterino's for dining.
My husband and I went to an early play (2pm) at the Goodman Theatre and had dinner reservations at another restaraunt for 5pm. Since the play finished at 3:30pm we changed plans and had an early dinner at Petterino's. They started serving dinner at 4pm so we didn't have to wait long. It was a beautiful afternoon so we requested outside dining.
The waiter was extremely informative and answered all my questions in a very pleasant and professional manner. He even saved my husband and I some money by advising us that we only needed to order one of the ala carte items for a side dish.
He checked on us frequently to make sure that we were happy with our meal.
My husband and I were very happy first time customers. My husband had the Blue Cheese Steak and I had the Cheese Ravioli Alforno. It was absolutely the best ravioli I have ever had. It was baked with parmesan and served with marinara on the side.
I was really impressed with the prompt and attentive service of our waiter and all the other considerate staff members.
Everything is Ala Carte so it can get pretty pricey. It is nice though because many of the side dishes are enough to feed two people. My husband and I shared the red potatos and there was a perfect amount in the bowl for both of us.
I would recommend giving this restaraunt a try. If you are going for a special occasion you may want to eat inside. I was with my husband for our second year anniversary. We thought it would be nice to sit outside but it was really distracting with the cars honking, the people passing by and all the other commotion of the city. If you like the sounds and sites it is perfect but when we go back I would request a table inside.
We visited Petterino's before going to see Wicked. Its one block from the theater.
When we arrived on Saturday night we were sat within 5 minutes of arriving.
People without reservations were being told there was a hour and a half wait.
My husband ordered one of the show specials. It included a house salad, he ordered one of the chicken dishes and it came with a dessert. Chocoolate Applause cake- which was very good.
I had a house salad, scallops and we each had a drink.
Our bill was $73.00 plus tip.
The service was wonderful. The food was very good. We would return and would recommend Petterino's.
Great service, waiter gave us 3 free scrumptious desserts, and fabulous ambiance! It is very close to the Ford Center Performing Arts Oriental Theatre. If you're catching a show this is a great place to dine before or after!
My boyfriend and I went here on a Sunday in Spring on a NICE day. The bar walls open up to the street to make a fresh air cafe'/bar. We got some drinks and sat and watched the theater crowds come and go. Elegant with ambiance lighting inside, well dressed staff with the host in a tux and bow tie. Yet we could walk in off the street in our jeans. Was a nice little stop. Didn't try anything from the menu though.
We did the valet parking for dinner & show. I thought it was quite a deal at $14! We did reservations thru Open Table and when we arrived a tad early they were still able to seat us without delay. To start we had the Coconut Shrimp which were YUMMY!! My husband went for one of the PreShow dinner's. He chose the Steak Diane w/ Corn Chowder soup and Chocolate Applause for dessert. He was very satisfied with all. The Chocolate Applause was absolutely incredible. I wouldn't get any other dessert if you are a chocolate lover. I had the Chicken Parm. w/ a 1/2 order of Angel Hair. It was a large serving of chicken. It was delicious, but couldn't finish at one sitting (oh but did I try!). Dinner in total came to $100 with 1 drink, 1 app, 1 soup, 2 dinners, 1 side and 1 dessert. I felt it well worth the money. Back to the valet after the show where our car was out right there in front of the restaurant waiting for us. We will definitely return when we go back to the theatre. We didn't do any specific table requests. If you are looking for a cozy romantic evening I would request one of the couch tables. We had a table where another couple was pretty much sitting with us.
Food was good but overpriced, service OK. Whoever thought to put two tables together to seat six and then have two couples sit at either end has no concept of intimate dining. Spoiled our whole dinner no matter how good everthing else could have been. If we wanted to eat in a cafateria or at the country corn boil we would have made reservations there. A big disappointment.
