Shogun Japanese Steak House, Naperville

The worst treatment and experience I have EVER had at a restaurant. We had reservations on Feb. 13th, Saturday night at 7 pm and arrived promptly to a line. There was nobody at the counter. 10 minutes later a woman showed up and stood there----didn't ask anyone if they had reservations. There were only 2 chefs cooking for 8 full tables. Finally we went up to her and told her about our reservations. She just said they were very busy. 40 minutes later, they seated people (NOT US) who were in front of us who did not have reservations. The manager said she didn't know we had reservations and we must have been late. I said we have been here since 7 and we told that other lady we had reservations-she said oh, I didn't talk to her. In those 40 minutes, none of the 7 other tables (besides the group that didn't get fed and just got up and walked out) had received any food. So after waiting that long, they didn't apologize, tried to blame us, we just got up and walked out. What a total disappointment. Will never go back and would never give money to people that would be so abusive. While we were waiting, we tried to order drinks, and after 20 minutes, we never even got those. What a total joke. Their attitude was we have a lot of people here, we don't need you. By the way, I never saw their chefs do any tricks or relax or have fun with the guests they were serving-they looked frantic and stressed. So I guess they did us a favor.

This place is wonderful. Been to other Japanese steak houses and they do not match up to this place. My family and friends have been going here for the past 20 some years. The cooks are great. Juan and Philipa are awesome. The owners are also very friendly and remember you when you walk in. I highly recommend the egg yolk shimp.

The chefs at this wonderful resturaunt are second to none. All the food it very fresh tasting. The table side cooking and entertainment is a very nice touch to a wonderful meal. I cant remeber our chefs name from last time but they are all very talented.

The food is wonderful there and the cooks have great sense of humor as they are preparing your food there in front of you. I have gone there tons of times and my kids even loved so this place is for all ages and for families or couples! The portion size is alot and the food is cooked to your preference you just tell the cook and he cooks it to the way you like it!

I'm a little bit disappointed with the food and so did my husband. The meat was a little bit overcooked, and I thought I could do better at cooking the dishes myself. Go only if you enjoy having your food cooked in front of you. The waitress was sweet and patient though.

If you want a secret or hidden find, then this is the place. The minute you walk in you have no idea where you are anymore because it looks authentic. Try the Japanese 7UP.

Been here several times and had a wonderful experience time. Everyone was very nice and friendly and never had to wait more than 30 secs. for a table. Sushi was amazing and nicely presented.

We have been to many Japanese Steak Houses in the area. The food and presentation was the best. We cannot wait to return.
