Service was slow, restaurant and bathroom was clean, and restaurant had an overall nice atmosphere. I got the enchilada combo plate (1 beef, 1 chicken, 1 cheese). Honestly, I thought it needed a lot more flavor. It was pretty bland. There were no salt shakers on the tables for their bland chips either. I was surprised by my experience since I have read so many great reviews.
My husband (and now are children, family and friends) have been patronizing Santiago's for years and years. Owner Serafin and wife Suzanna look to please with the freshest ingredients (he personally shops for them) and the tastiest Margaritas. Favorite dishes of ours are Carne Asada; seafood casadillas - and their yummy guacamole. Special orders are welcome - just ask! The atmosphere and service by long-time waiters are top rate as well. Santiago's will be moving to a new location, just off La Grange Road on Calendar Court, soon. We expect it will be bigger without losing the family owned attention that make it special. A private party room will be available too.
My Mom and I went into Santiagos and ordered fish tacos which were good. Problem: they were $4 each. We ordered 5 tacos only no beverages just had two glasses of water and the bill came to $21 dollars some change. Tooo expensive!!!!
This is the best place to eat, relax and enjoy. The owners are always there to help and get you whatever you need. The waitstaff are all friendly and know their stuff. There is a feeling of family when you walk in, as the whole staff is working together.
We LOVE them!!!
There are a bunch of Mexican restaurants throughout Chicagoland, if you are not IN the city, Santiagos is the best - Food is prepared to perfection, drinks are great, atmosphere is very cool in a Mexican Cantina kind of way. The owners are the friendliest and Sundays they have a strolling magician. Make sure to tip him---. GREAT SANGRIA.
I am very impressed with Santiago's. I was looking for a place with authentic Mexican food with good service. When I found this place online, I looked at the reviews and decided to go there, even though it was 30 minutes from where I lived.
Let me tell you it was worth it!! There were nice portion sizes, that were very filling and you could taste the quality in the food. I orginally went there to speak spanish for a class, and the man that served me, was very nice, and was patient with my small spanish understanding. I would give this place more than 5 stars if I could, and I will definitely be going there again.
Santiago's is a great family restaurant with a great food, ownership and staff. We've been eating there on a regular basis for 5 years and have never been disappointed. The Chile Rellenos is a favorite. We live in the area and enjoy Santiagos over all of the other Mexican restaurants in town.
Unfortunately, this was my first and last time ordering from this restaurant. My order consisted of four fish tacos and two orders of chicken tortilla soup. They were both awful!!! The fish tacos were pungent and the soup was way to salty. I suggest you pass on Santiago's Mexican Restaurant in La Grange.
