Smiling Budda Szechuan & Mndrn, Schaumburg

I have been eating at the Smiling Buddha for over thirty years, very happily. I understand that they are to close soon, and it saddens me. This is what I think of when I think of Chinese food. Family made with pride, a relationship with customers, a happy place to be. Oh, right, they have fabulous food. Go for the Dim Sum on a weekend soon. If you like hot food, have the Red Oil Dumpling and the Hot and Sour Mein. I haven't lived in Illinois for some 20 years, but I always make it back to the Smiling Buddha.

This is the greatest place to eat. I grew up in Schaumburg and it has been there for 30 years. They still know exactly who we are by the food we order for carry out if we are not dining in. We always get the same items! They are amazing people and the food is exceptional! I have never found another chinese restaurant that compairs and I have been searching for years since I no longer live in the area. You will not be disappointed.

I've been going to this family-owned restaurant since I was a little girl (20+ years). The food is fantastic and so is the service! We are never disappointed. Try the dim sum on the weekends. There are 3 items on the entire menu I am not a fan of and they have an extensive menu. Try it and you'll be back!

My family and I ate at the Smiling Budda on Jan. 2, 2009. This is not your typical chain chinese restaurant. This is authentic, with great service and fantastic food. Atmosphere is more like a cafe, but the food and service is top notch.

The $4.50 or so appetizer of Sesame Chicken was fantastic. We also had the vegetable egg rolls, 2 for $3.50 which were some of the best egg rolls I have ever had, and I have had home made egg rolls from Cambodia before. The 6 won tons for about $4.50 were fantastic, pan fried won tons. Much better than PF Chang's or other places we have tried. They had a fantastic dipping sauce and a very good hot chili pepper dipping sauce. These were amazing. I had the General Tso's Chicken for dinner, slightly spicy, lots of flavor, sweet after taste, it was fantastic! The egg Drop soup we order listed as enough for two people for $3.50, but there was enough there for 3 bowls of it, what a value! I am blown away by this place. We will be going here exclusively from now on. I have tried the following Chinese restaurants in Schaumburg/Hoffman estates and found this the best by far: Moon Garden Restaurant, PF Chang's, Golden Chopsticks, Inchins Bamboo garden, and Ho Luck.

What a wonderful surprise! The Smiling Budda serves authentic Chinese food at very reasonable prices. It occupies what may have once been a diner or hot dog place, and the decor is not trendy or avant garde. But you will find very well prepared food here - the Szechuan dishes we tried were spiced very nicely and the meats were fresh and tender. There are many types of dumplings; we tried 3 kinds that were all very carefully prepared and distinctly different. We plan to become regulars!

My buddy told me to try this place and HOLY COW! Their food is absolutly wonderful. I would never know that it was there had he not told me about it and now I eat there every chance that I get. It is by far the best Chinese Resturant that I have ever been too.
