We drove by all the time, the place is packed! I wanted to give them a try. It is really packed! The tables are so close to one another you feel like your eating with the people next to you. Our waitress was slow and got everything wrong- I am not joking! The drinks, the salads and the steak I ordered. The palce had dead flies in the window. Flies all around, driving us nuts through dinner! We should have eaten outside! I feel bad for Hamphsire having not many places but, to eat there! I will not go there again!
Two things make the Red Ox stand out...(one) the Parmesan encrusted Grouper is worth dying for. (two) the 1/2 price Pizza on Thursday night is excellent. Lots of sausage and not overdone with cheese.
If you expect warmth from the Greek who owns the place...you are in the wrong place. He is surly, doesn't have any people skills and ignores even good steady customers like us. We ignore him and enjoy the Pizza or the Grouper. If I want warmth and friendliness ...I'll get a Dog.
Went here with my daughter, my salad came and it was drenched in thousand island dressing. I tried to get my waitress and notify her...but I couldn't find her. I flagged down the owner and he was all put out when he came over...THEN instead of handling the situation himself, he mumbled something and went to find the waitress and left me there with a nasty salad. We have not been back since, and probably will not. Bread is good, but like another reviewer said, if you want to pay through the nose for bread and butter...this is your place.
I agree. Been there a few times and it is either undercooked food or overcooked food. High price for lesser quality food. Here is an idea, get a real chef and buy quality food instead of the cheapest vendors have to offer
Me and my wife just moved to hampshire and tried the all you can eat fried chicken, it was awful, overcooked, horrible flavour and dry, you needed a glass of water just to swallow the chicken, the baked potato was dry, and i would ask our waitress for more chicken and she would question me if i was sure i wanted more, and then i would wait 20 minutes, The only good thing was the bread, it was warm and tasty, and they didnt have a problem giving up the bread like they did the chicken, ill never go back there again and wouldnt recomend to anyone unless you like bread and butter, and a huge bill, and lousy service
Worst place to eat in town. I have been there several times and it keeps getting worse each time. I have been over charged - AFTER I have paid by CC and left the tip. I noticed on our statements that the charges are incorrect.
Food is average for a diner. Nothing special. The fried fish Friday is low quality and disappointing.
The last time we went there we had our 2 yo and had to wait for a table. The hostess came in and said our name and asked if the bar was ok. We said no, not with a 2 yo. Without skipping a beat, she turned to the next people waiting and asked them if the bar was ok. Never told us it'd be a few more minutes, or even a sorry.
We will NEVER go back. The hostess staff always seems like they rather be somewhere else and the rest of the staff is average.
