Please ignore, BEST MEAL, his atrocious grammar and lack of coherent thought is a detriment to reviews as a whole. Hayashi is a cozy, local establishment that is literally run by a close family. Their food is great and affordable, and the staff really accommodates you. While they are not completely fluent in English, they try hard and make up for it in hospitality. Best sushi place in the are, up there with Sushi Thai.
I was there, tonite,SWunday nite,Jan. 04,2010...It was a really bad experience....I was there with a local doctor, when she aske me ,if ,I did not mind eating there....I asked her why?...she showed me on our table ( we were siting on the sushi bench) a great number of bugs and when the food arrived ..a bunch of fruit flies stormed our meal...I tried to talk to the owner but at the beginning , I was under the assumption that he was not speaking english, I asked the waitrees if the owner was informed about the problem...the answer was ..we paying for extermination...but the problem its still here....I AM NOT GOING TO COME BACK ...& I ll make sure my friends know that too..Plus the overpriced mediocre food.
This is the BEST sushi place in the northern subburbs - - and i should know - - i think i've tried them all. This is even better than some expensive places i've tried in Las Vegas. You have to try the Bloody Tuna Roll, the Ninja Turtle Roll, the Mango Roll and the Crispy Tuna Roll. I can't say enough good things about this place. They are so friendly. Even picky teenagers love this place!!
We've tried so many sushi places... it was such a nice surprise to find this place right in Gurnee. Evanston, Lake Forest, Highland Park.... we've tried them all. Overall, we'll be going back to Gurnee...again and again.
Best Sushi Rolls by far! Great Staff! Quaint little place. Who needs the trendy sushi scene. This is the real deal! It was just great!
This is by far the Best place to Dine out and enjoy the true sense of Japanese traditional food, Culture and great service. They have always provided the best Sushi, seafood, Wines and atmosphere around. Truelly a wonderful dining experince and quailty food. Enjoy this place as much as I have.... Total package of a graet night out .
We went to Hayashi for 2 Valentine's Days in a row. The food is delicious and reasonable. It is much better than the other Japanese places in the area. I recommend all the sushi as well as the green tea mochi for dessert.
I think the sushi is pretty darn good. I currently live in Hawaii and the sushi has absolutely no flavor not to mention no creativeness. I'm not to happy when I see a spam or hotdog roll being served at a sushi joint. Hayashi's sushi is up there in the top 5 with sushi bars that I've visited. I would recommend it without a doubt. Staff has always been outstanding but they do get busy and it's a bit small in there.
We've been going to Hayashi for a little over two years now. The staff is VERY attentive and very helpful in recommending something new. They've never steered us wrong. We've tried other sushi places recently and always return here. Our teen-aged daughters love it, too.
Make sure to look at the specials on the board as you walk in - they're very unique and delicious every time. We've tried many things that we'd never even thought about eating before!
This is right in front of the Dominicks in Gurnee - if you blink you'll miss it. Please don't!
