Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse, Rosemont

An old wood-panelled New York-style steakhouse - basically Sparks meets Sardi's. The walls are covered with gazillions of autographed photos of every celebrity you can name, and a lot you can't. The steaks are fine...and that's about it. Nothing else of note on the menu - but hey, it IS a steakhouse. Expensive, and very crowded -- so get a reservation and bring a rich friend to take care of the tab.

Just what the name suggests: unabashed old-fashioned (i.e., excellent) steaks and drinks. Professional service, huge portions, fabulous meat, great atmosphere, marvelous deserts (macadamia turtle pie!!). If you are looking for "new cuisine" and microscopic portions this not your place. If you want a real steak (possibly some seafood) in an enjoyable company, go!

Delivers on what it promises. Great meal and no pretension about it. Cocktails are good. Only annoyance is that an 8pm reservation was an 8.20pm table, and they told us on the phone to be on time. Visited for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised. The meal was not awe inspiring, but it was much better than I had anticipated. The atmosphere, food, and service were all classic Chicago. Our waiter was old-school traditional and sharp as a tack. Steak was a bit overcooked but still tasty. Restaurant was bustling but not too loud. The Macadamia nut dessert was honestly the highlight--enormous in taste and size. Still a Morton's loyalist

A surprisingly good replication of the downtown original. A respite from the bad O'Hare food scene.

Last visit featured a waiter displaying a platter of raw steak selections. After placing the tray down, he removed his thumb from the ribeye and picked up my wine glass from the rim to refill. Mmm...bloody cabernet anyone? The wait for this table was 40 minutes, but the memories will last a lifetime.
