Freds Mesquite Bar & Grill, Butte

My family and I were in town for a State Basketball tournament. After a later game we decided Fred s was close to our hotel and we would eat there. We waited an hour to be seated and after ordering drinks to pass time we watched a very unprofessional scolding from the head chef to one of his waitresses. After finally being seated, we all agreed it would be worth the wait and tried to understand that they were moderately busy. After ordering our food we waited another 45 minutes to have our food brought out. During our 45 minute wait the waitress never bothered to ask if we wanted refills on our drinks. Once the food was placed in front of us, the presentation was extremely disappointing. My mother ordered fish with ciabatta bread. There was not a single other thing on the plate but the bread cut in half and the fish fillet. Having said that, every single one of our meals was lukewarm/cold. The cheese on my burger hadn t even melted. After almost two hours of waiting and being extremely disappointed we have chosen to never return to Fred s. The chef was nice enough to comp. us three meals (out of six) and the waitress was very apologetic, but she had also just been chewed out an hour prior and seemed to be over the night. Needless to say it was still extremely expensive for a dive restaurant.I have never wanted or needed to write a review on a restaurant, but this was one to write about. I would not recommend eating here to anyone.

Horrible service our waitress was not helpful. Food took over 45 minutes to come out after we ordered. When the food finally came out it was mediocre. Complained to management and they simply dismissed our complaints. This is probably the worst restaurant experience I have had in my life. Take your business elsewhere and avoid the headache.

Just moved to Butte from Great Falls, We were heading to Sparkys and we found Fred's by accident. Best restaurant ribs I've ever had. (dad smokes em better) Awesome beer selection, and very friendly service. 6 out of 5 stars, Taking the parents there tonight. Highly recommended.

Ate here July 2010 as we traveled across MT. We were looking for a local place, found this via GPS, drove by to check it out, looked crowded, but stopped coz we figured lots of people must like it! Sat on the patio outside. GREAT food, omg, so tasty. We had seafood kabobs and veggie kabobs. It's not fast food, so food took a bit of time, but well worth it. I thought prices were fine, but we're from elsewhere....

Waited an hour for a cheeseburger and a chicken sandwich. Never got my side dish (rice) and never got my coffee. Ask to speak to the manager but he was cooking. The cheeseburger was raw and the service was the worst I have ever seen. I will never go back to Freds. The party of 12 who let us go ahead of them because it was just the 2 of us got served before we did. Why? No one would give us an answer. STAY AWAY. It was awful.

my hubbie and i went here for our anniversary.very good food and service.would definately go there again.

OMG this is the best food in town!!! the rack of ribs are to die for. the place is a bit high in price, but for what you get, its worth it. I get to go there tomorrow again wooooooo hoooooooo !

Great food, fast service and the outside seating is wonderful. The prices aren't too bad for the amount of food.

The food was excellant and the service was friendly and fast even though every seat in the house and patio was full. The seating on the patio was wonderful. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Butte.
