Having worked, in years past, for the Pepper(Bruce, Jan, et. al.), I can honestly say this is some of the best food you'll ever find; and at a decent price, too! OUR grinders are absolutely the best; and they don't just come as Taco grinders, either; you can get just about everything on them(including the kitchen sink; that was a joke!) Seriously, a fully loaded grinder still only costs about $5! Their tacos, softshells, taco burgers, enchiladas, and so much more are excellent late-night snacks; and our hot sauce is the BEST! (You don't have to eat it at night, either; the Red Pepper begins delivery almost as soon as they're open, now!) Excellent, excellent food; and the ambience is great, if you don't mind sharing a booth!
Ah.... The Pepper!! Probably 1 of the most AMAZING Mexican food joints you'll find!!! The food is wonderful and yes the legendary grinders..GREAT!!! But the is also a great taste in the plain but keep in mind great cheese tostadas!!!! The Pepper might not be the cleanest place you'll eat at but it adds CHARACTER!! LOL! But seriously the Pepper has probably the BEST mexican food you can find in the USA! It is THE best thing in Grand Forks!!!!
The Red Pepper sits only a few blocks from the Winky Watertower. Like that landmark, its a Grand Forks classic. Serving an odd mix of cheap food including tacos, grinders, and gyros, it won't break even the most straightened budget. Don't expect great nutrition... the food is greasy and prone to make picky stomachs revolt. If you like cheap truck-stops for their gritty ambience, you're going to love The Red Pepper. Everyone else should do it just once, because it IS quintessential Grand Forks.
