We were hyped up with the reviews from this website but was sadly disappointed when we got our "bird nest" made of wonton skins. If anyone has ordered this dish before from an authentic chinese resturant, they would know that the nest aspect is not made of wonton skin but deepfried noodles. This probably is the best place for an authentic chinese food for the Grand Forks area. However, I was picturing a more authentic chinese food that offered fried squid and escargot in black bean sauce. However, it is a GREAT value (except for the peking duck which I think is a little overpriced but maybe it's because we are in ND) and we would probably opt for the family dinner next time that included lots of stuff for a really, really good price. Clean resturant and I do see other Asians eating here so I would assume that this is as close to authentic chinese as you can get in Grand Forks. Oh, and the Orange Beef was pretty good and not too "Americanized" where it wasn't deep batter fried. It was unbattered and mixed in a tasty sauce =) Staff was very friendly as well. Great service.

China garden is one of my favorite places to eat. Loved the lunch special and probably ate it one too many times. I will be back.

The restaurant was very clean and the waiters were dressed very professionally. Prices are very reasonable. If you go here you MUST try the cream cheese wontons. They are the best.

Loves it
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/22/09
I love the fried rice at China Garden. The pork fried rice has really sweet pork that goes well with the salty soy. The chicken fried rice almost tastes peppery and is very good too.

Great Place to eat for lunch or anytime
By Phantom71336, 1/14/07
Great meals, friendly personnel, have been going there for over 20 years. Kind of miss the nice little place they use to have on the East Side. It's a must to go there if you haven't yet.

We always go to this restaurant!
By Raul, 12/4/06
The food is delicious. There are some specials which are not on the menu but you can ask the chef for it. The specials are things you don't usually find at a Chinese restaurant here. I like that there is also a lot of variety so the choices are not so limited. What's good about the restaurant is if you have a party for a special occasion, you can order maybe a lobster or peking duck. The place is well kept and clean. It is also not so loud so you can eat peacefully. The restaurant is a family restaurant. The service is very good. The waiters always make sure you are satisfied with your food. That's why we always eat here!

Try the Peking Duck
By Tomteboda, 6/12/06
Not being a buffet, the China Garden doesn't get as much traffic I think as other local "Chinese" restaurants. There are a couple reasons why its worth trying out despite that. First, the food is good and abundant. Second, you can order peking duck. You need to call ahead and order it, but the price is reasonable. They're good about accommodating large groups, and the waitstaff is polite and efficient. Overall, not bad, and if all the Chinese restaurants in town folded and flew south tomorrow I wouldn't miss any, except for this one.
