A Great Payday Supper
The Green Mill has become quite expensive since the fire that caused them to rebuild, but it's still a great place for a supper date. The prices are a little high, but the food, service, and atmosphere are great.
"The Mill" is divided into a regular dining room and a sports-bar type lounge inside, and has patio seating available during the summer outside. I've been seated in all three areas in the past, and have been surprised to find that the service is equally fabulous no matter where you sit. This isn't the type of place where the patio or bar get "forgotten" by the servers, or where service is slower in these areas. For a night out for two, I'm personally partial to the patio when it is available, but only because it offers the fresh air and quieter atmosphere than inside.
The food is spendy, but fabulous. Portions are ample, especially if you are getting a pasta dish. Most of the entrees either I or my companions have chosen are too large for one sitting, so plan on a doggy-bag. The Tortellini with Prosciuto and Mushrooms are especially good, but are definitely a meal-for-two, or a "lunch for tomorrow, too" entree. For a lighter option, check out the appetizers. The same quality and flavor are available, just without the belt-loosening portions. I especially love the Bruchetta Pomodora.
Delivery is also available for a $3 fee, which is a great option if you want to order for lunch at work or a meeting. Delivery can take quite a while, though, and I've typically been quoted a wait time of 45 minutes to 1 hour for this service, so plan ahead if you want delivery.
Sure, the Green Mill has become one of the spendier restaurants in town. However, the great service and food make up for it. As a "date restaurant," one doesn't mind paying a bit extra for what is provided. I do feel personally that the prices are the only drawback here, but in this case you do get what you pay for.
