I've eaten here many times as a kid and now as an adult. It's charm has probably faded a bit but the charachter and food still live on. Even though looks may be decieving, the steaks are to die for!! If you're going to eat Bronze Boot for the first time I'd definately suggest steak and or crab! Everything is delicious though! Also, when lit up and in the atmosphere with good people the charm from within radiates!
On the advice of a friend who had said that the best steaks in town were at the Bronze Boot, my husband and I dined there on a Monday evening. We found the dated but well cared for decor charming and peaceful, barely noticing the pails hanging from the ceiling. We were surprised that both soup and salad were included with our meal, along with a vegetable choice. We chose the baked potato, served with ample toppings. The steaks were DELICIOUS - mouth melting tender and perfectly prepared. The service was friendly and efficient. We would have preferred a whole grain choice in the overflowing bread basket, and regret that we were too full for dessert. Otherwise, we found the evening perfectly delightful and look forward to another visit when we get to Grand Forks.
The Bronze Boot has gone down the tubes since Darcy (owner/founder) died. After being a good customer of theirs for many years, we spent our money for the last time there last night. The grilled chicken alfredo had been cooked ahead of time and put on a plate in the refrigerator and then microwaved before serving it. The sauce had a dried surface and the pasta was dried around the edges. And, the pasta was all stuck together in a big glob. The other three people in my party had the steaks that were on special. They were not cooked well done as they had been ordered and they were only luke warm. The mushrooms were ice cold. The waitress microwaved everything and then served them again. The soup was too salty and the salads were many hours old. If I could rate them with negative stars I would. It was horrible food that wouldn’t rank as well as a frozen TV dinner!
