As a couple of east coast transplants longing for some good seafood; my wife and I decided to try out The Pirates Table. We were pleasantly suprised with the experience. Our mojitos actually had fresh picked mint in them and were very well mixed. The lobster was some of the freshest we'd ever had and the halibut was prepared perfectly. The service was outstanding as well. We weren't rushed, glasses were never empty, courses were delivered in a well timed sequence, and the used dishes never out-stayed their welcome. Our pre-tip total came to a fair $78 but that seemed pretty fair for coctails, appetizer, higher-end entrees, coffee, and desert. It was a great experience and we will be back.

This is one of our two favorite restaurants in the Black Hills. We moved to the east coast a year ago, but were back briefly this last week for the first time. We went to the Pirate's Table Saturday night and it was as wonderful as we remember. Best French Onion soup we have ever found anywhere! (and I don't even like onions) Every other place we have ever eaten either in the hills or on the east coast has a weak broth. I don't know how they make it at the Pirate's Table, but it is VERY rich. Mmmmmmm.....

Great Vacation Spot!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/8/09
I loved this place. Very quaint and very cozy. Great family atmosphere and wonderful place to have a romantic dinner with a date as well. From the family that owns it and goes all out for service, I would definitely recommend this restraunt as a place to go when touring Rapid City.

If you live in Rapid City or are just visiting, the Pirates Table is a must! Recently I was visiting the Rapid City area for business and I asked the receptionist at the hotel where I was staying where the best place to have a quiet dinner and everyone I asked told me that Pirates Table was the ONLY place to go. I took the advice. I had the best experience that I have ever had. The server was wonderful; I believe her name was Lisa, and the food, divine. Everything, down to the ambiance, hosts, and bussers were perfect. It is anything and everything anyone could every hope for in a casual dining experience.

A Great 'Hideaway'
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/30/08
This amazing restaurant was a real find. Seated at my table in a 'cove' I could imagine myself in the south seas. There was an amazing selection of entrees on the menu, I am guessing over 50. I chose the prime rib. What a great meal it was. You could almost cut the meat with a fork. And the price, under $20 including my drink. Highly recommended.

Being new to Rapid City I reviewed several restaurants and decided the Pirates Table sounded perfect with such favorable reviews. On the inside, the restaurant was nice. It was quiet and there were few patrons. We had to wait, as there was no hostess, or anyone else to seat us. The server was excellent. The prices were very good. The food was definitely a let down. The meal was sent back as it was not cooked as ordered, in addition it was only luke warm. When it was brought back, it appeared no different than when it left to be nuked, aside from the "imitation" crab being removed, as well as the bernaise sauce. I feel, being as slow as it was, there was no excuse for poor food preparation and presentation. I will, however, probably give it another try before not recommending it.

Everytime I go out to eat I compare it The Pirates Table--I still haven't found a restaurant that comes close! Must try the Crab stuffed mushrooms!

Too bad
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/13/07
After moving to Black Hawk and passing by the Pirates Table for a couple of years, we finally visited for dinner. We had high hopes for this restaurant, as good dining choices are far and few between in Rapid City. To make a long story short, the atmosphere is dated, the pirate motiff is hokey, the food was average to below average, and the prices were high, for what we got. We will not be going back.........

AVOID!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/2/07
We just ate at Pirates Table, Rapid City and stopped eating for fear we were going to be sick! This was by far the worst food we have experienced so far! As we drove back to our hotel we passed many establishments we though would have been better - McDonalds, Microwave food from the gas station - you get my point.
