The service at this place is horrible. Several members of our group got to the restaurant at 7 0'clock on Sunday to eat before out shuttle to the airport. We had an hour to eat and be ready to go. At 7:20 we had been served our drinks but hadn't seen a menu. When I told the waiter about our time constraint he told me that they weren't Hardees and that we probably wouldn't get our food in time to make the shuttle. He did nothing to help us out and who waits 20 minutes to even get a menu. We paid for our drinks and walked out. We told the rest of our group not to go and they missed out on at least 25 breakfasts that morning from our group. The waiter totally had an attitude. Guess what? We ended up going to Hardee's and made our shuttle. Hope the owner of Talley's reads this. WE WON'T BE BACK.

Ate here 4 times. First 3: superb. Friendly and effieient staff. Stunning food. Today, 30 Sept. was a bomb. New menu lacks gusto. Eatable art, not much of it, bland. I'm not going back.

Good food .Poor organization. We had enjoyed the breakfasts (although not big portions) and decided to try an evening meal. We booked for 8.30pm and in retrospect this was a mistake ....Tally`s should not accept late reservations if they are in a hurry to shut shop by 10pm.The food was good BUT eating whilst chairs are being stacked on the tables around us made us very uncomfortable and NO we didn`t try the desserts although we`d have liked to -we`d got the message ..Tally`s wanted us to leave by 10pm ,We ended up going to Safeway and picking up some cheesecake!! Silver service it is not .Tally`s should not accept late reservations - it is not a canteen ,it does not have canteen prices Tally`s should have more respect for their clients and their chef...it`s a pity because the decor is lovely , the food IS good-,we`d have liked to have enjoyed it and not eaten it under stress and amidst chairs on tables.

I recently moved to Rapid City from a large urban metropolis, not expecting to find the quality and panache within the local restaurant scene. My ignorance was quite welcome as I have sampled the fare at Delmonicos, Enigma, the Corn Exchange and a few others in town, but none provide the gastronomic pleasures that Tally's has given to me. I have heard that I arrived at a great time as the menu and chef are quite new and together have combined for a true dining experience. The diner type ambience adds to a sense of comfort instead of detracting from the feel of fine-dining by giving an intimate setting without being overly romantic. I have dined here several times for lunch and once for dinner. The salad offerings range from typical house to amazingly developed with options that include fois gras, imported cheeses and exotic mushrooms. Dinner entrees and lunch offerings also range from that appealing to a more cautious diner to that of the gourmand. The wine list provides a sufficient number of well priced options, both domestic and international with several options by the glass. I am glad to have Tally's as a restaurant option and wish them all the success in the world. July 20, 2010 update: After having written this review, I have since returned several times and been rather disappointed. The service is still friendly, but the kitchen can't seem to get the food out in a timely manner. I have stopped eating here during my lunch hour as there isn't enough time and the last two dinners here likewise took way too long. I hope management can turn things around, but until I hear that they have done so, I will return to the other fine food establishments in town.

We started outside and enjoyed our entrées: venison, bison, porc ... all were served with delicious sauce and beautifully presented. To our tasted the food was a little salty. We finished inside enjoying the nice interior and subtle solo guitar music. Our desserts confirmed the good impression. The service was excellent. The very friendly waiter lacked some experience but the manager filled the gap nicely.

The old Tally's was a wonderful place, and some things should NOT change. Tonight we went to the new Tally's Silver Spoon and were greatly disappointed. We had our fancy appetizer (which was ok) and a great salad, then waited 35 minutes after our salad for our meal. I had the French Dip and my companion had the Philly Steak ...mediocre at best and definately not worth the 35 minute wait after finishing our salads. Won't be going back.

A very pleasant surprise. The cuisine was surprinsingly fine and creative like for example their scalops w/ a chocolate sauce or the foie-gras du jour. The presentation was appealling The ambiance was intimate and cosy and the service was stylish and impeccable. We have been treated for dessert with a selection of home made ice creams with extraordinary flavors like pears and goat cheese or sweet potatoes, we have never seen anywhere else. The wine list was interesting too. A must !

If you love fresh, homemade food, this is the place. After eating on the road, this was a wonderful change! We went for dinner, enjoyed it so much that we went for breakfast the following morning as well. The grouper, buffalo, roasted veggies, spinach salad, corned beef, homemade hash browns, and REAL maple syrup (that was warmed!) were fabulous! Everything was homemade and fresh. YUM!
