I went to the Corn Exchange this past weekend and the only word I keep using over and over is phenomenal! The owner greeted our party right away and explained the menu and their specialties. To start I had a mixed green salad. To me, this item is usually just something to tide me over till the meal comes, except here. The salad dressing was so good I wish I could have licked the plate. For dinner I ordered the pork chop and my friend ordered the bison NY strip. Being from the East coast we were a little skeptical about bison, however both options were amazing! There was more than enough food on the plate yet somehow we both wanted more! It was also very pleasant to have the owner check in with us over the course of the meal. He gave us pointers as to how long it will take to navigate the RAP airport as well as highly encouraged us to visit the Badlands National park. A suggestion I now highly agree with and appreciate his opinion. Overall, a wonderful experience and a pleasant surprise for what I thought little towns had to offer.

I agree with all the reviews above with the exception of lighting. The lighting in the restaurant is very low. I have eaten at this restaurant several time, 11 to be exact, and the lighting is so low you can barely see your food. I wish that I was able to enjoy the visual aspect of my meal as with the great taste. Now, for my raves. The menu is quite unique with a Filet of beef as it's back bone in my opinion. The ingregidents they use are primarily from local vendors and farmers which is a huge plus. One of the best, if not the best restaurant in the city.

No doubt the best meal of my life and I have ate at top resturants all over the country. Make sure you make reservations and plan for 2-3 hours. Entrees and appetizers are small, but that was great as we tried 5 items on the menu and I wished I would have had room for more. The desserts were great too. I was so suprised to find such attention to detail and taste in South Dakota. Highly recommended!!!

This is the greatest food in Rapid City! The food is fresh, the meat is tasty, the environment PERFECT! The price is worth every penny when you spend every bite in exclamation of how great the taste is. Reservations suggested, WORTHY every bit!

Bryan had to bribe me to come to South Dakota
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/12/08
The Corn Exchange Bistro was Bryan's bribe for me to come to South Dakota during Bike Week at Sturgis. I had seen Rachel Ray review this restaurant on her show, so I just knew it would be good, and was NOT disappointed. I had Corn Exchange Steak- Pan Roasted, with choice of mushroom cream sauce or topped with wedge of Maytag Blue Cheese, served with roasted yellow fin potatoes, From 777 Buffalo Ranch, Hogen Beef and Dakota natural beef, all from South Dakota the price wasn't listed on the menu (another big city touch) but it was worth whatever Bryan had to pay to have this wonderful meal.

MOUTH-WATERING FILET MIGNON! Everything written and said about THE CORN EXCHANGE, from RACHEL RAY to ZAGAT, is absolutely true .. .. A charming oasis in the middle of downtown Rapid City, make sure you make reservations if you want a table after 6PM .. .. Everything they make is unique, scrumptuous and memorable .. .. I had their DUCK DUMPLINGS to start =)) and then came the PETITE FILET MIGNON .. .. ohhhhh myyyyy =)))))))) I've had meat from Japan to Austria and I can say this PETITE FILET was the best meat I've ever had .. .. Perfectly-cooked with every bite a true delight .. .. For desert - a home-made Apple/Banana/Almond cake that topped a perfect evening .. .. HEAVEN IN RAPID CITY - Who Knew??
