We have slowly watched this place going under for years. With the new Texas Roadhouse, The Lone Star Steak House and many more new places to eat we wonder how long it will take Minerva's to go out of business. They have been remodeling the kitchen and the dinning room but will they have anything new on the menu and will they actually take the time to cook it decently? I understand most of the food is bought frozen or prepared and not actually cooked there. People went to Minerva's for the environment for lack of a better place to go but often came away disappointed with the food and the over inflated prices. If I were the owner I'd seek out new management ASAP. Obviously what you've served up to Rapid City is NOT going to continue to be acceptable now with the new competition. You will actually have to compete and I do not think you will be able to because you have never listened to the community before. You have survived on unsuspecting tourist and as they see well known competitors they will not take the chance on you. We will gladly be taking our business else where, as will may of our neighbors, coworkers, friends and family members. Your days of taking advantage of Rapid City because you were the only choice is OVER! Your days are numbered.

Went there last night for my wife's B-day, we are new to the area from Mass. We had not tried any of the local non-chain restaurants and after coming here, we decided this was the first place we would try. The place is nice enough, but then came the food ! We both saw a Ravioli, it was described to have buffalo and pheasant in it. The presentation was fair, but my wife's bowl looked like it was slopped in. As I tried to cut into my first piece with my fork , the ravioli resisted. The Ravioli was either frozen and not reheated properly or way undercooked. I took one bite, three chews and pulled the wadded up, testure of bubble gum piece out and placed it to the side of the table. For main course, we had the manicotti, it was described on the menu to be filled with chicken and served with a cream sauce that had garlic and tomatoes. When it came, it was a mess of a plate that had regular ragu pasta sauce on one half of the plate and an Alfredo on the other half. I had two manicotti in the middle with two cooked chicken breasts on either side. The wife had the same meal and hers came with three manicotti. We even had the desert, I had a capuccino and piece of cheese cake. The capuccino came in a cup that was nearly impossible to handle, its hard to explain. It was an ok capuccino, u would just have to see the cup to understand. As for the cheescake, it was the worst that I have had in many many years. The cake had the consitantcy of a cube of real cheese, like that you would buy from a deli. The strawberries were frozen and you could taste how old they were. Lastly, the price, the entire meal, the wife had two glasses of wine and I had an ice tea. Price was nearly $90 ! The meals were corrected, the apps were taken off and the deserts were free, still $57. Here is the sad part folks, I am not some stuck up rich snob, I am a military man who was trying to take his wife out for a nice quiet night on her B-day. The food was so bad, me and wife said the best part of the meal, was the bread that came to the table. We further laughed because we also said that the Olive Garden had better food than this place. Hard to believe that on a few of these web sites that rate and list restaurants, that this one is deemed #1 !!!! ? Again, new to the area, but if this is the best that Rapid City has to offer, me and the spouse are going to have to readjust our mindset about going out to eat every once in awhile. Sad Sad Sad.

Visiting Rapid City (on business) from Columbia, Maryland, we were impressed with Minervas. The buffalo steaks (ordered black&blue) were simply outstanding. And do NOT miss the buffalo short ribs. The wine list is adequate, the service is good, and the ambience is VERY good. Our every request (and we are a bit picky) was met with a cheerful attitude. We felt our $100.00 tab (for two) was a bargain. DocChuck and Dr. E.

Great place
By Rob, 7/19/07
I was in Rapid City for a week visiting relatives. This was the best place to eat. I had breakfast and dinner here. The food was great both times. Service was fast and friendly. The dining room is clean. Can't go wrong with Minerva's.

DOWNHILL
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/12/06
When this restaurant first opened it was wonderful, but constant management problems and attitudes it has really gone downhill. The food and service are inconsistent at best. I would rate it 2 1/2 stars

Makes a great mojito!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/28/06
Tops in the Rapid City area for dining, Minerva’s Restaurant in Rapid City also serves an honest-to-goodness, muddled-mint Mojito. I am suitably impressed.
