Save your money!! Expensive and not worth it!! Menu s are large you bump the person next to you as you try and make sense of the silly names of things to choose from. They were out of baked potatoes, and my ONLY other option was red beans and rice to go with a steak....which was served on plate almost the size of the table. If you like a biker bar atmosphere...this is the place for you.
I love this place. It s fun. If you don t like fried food, big plates with tons of deliciousness on them, $1 beers and walls covered in all sorts of memorabilia, then this is not the place for you. It s a great place to go with friends and hang out for awhile but we have taken the kids a few times and they think it s a fun place. Sunday s kids eat free and they get a lot of food with a ice cream. My family and I have never finished all our food. But that s what take home boxes are for and you get two meals for the price of one. At least that s how I look at it. Pretty much most of the menu is $9.99 a plate and the steaks side of the menu is $19.99. Tons of choices and I have to tell you the menu is over whelming. LOL
I ve gone other places in SD and paid more for OK food and not as much.
This place is huge tourist trap. It looks terrible, inside that is. The walls are covered in crap. I get it, it is supposed to be old school decorations, along the lines of TGIFriday, or Applebees. But once you can't see the walls anymore, it just becomes crap. The menus are huge - because it is printed on a Giant menu, not because they have a great selection. Plus the menu seems to be encoded with their own cool kid slang, (I think they were trying to be creative). Once you finally get your food, you will be disappointed to find a plain ole' ____. The few time I have gone I have ordered different things, and everytime it was just boring and plain. Acceptable at best. The food was not worth price or the annoyance of being stuck in a tourist trap.
We were promptly seated and drink orders were taken within 5 minutes. Impressive beer menu but I was a bit worried over the massive food menu. Took my wife and I about 10 minutes to really look through and understand all that was being offered. There is so much that I was afraid it wouldn't be very good and was probably all frozen. Ordered the fried pickles as an app and steaks for dinner. Pickles were great and they did 50/50 on the steaks (the Bourbon NY Strip was great, wife's Sirloin was a bit dry). Service was prompt and we had a great visit. If this restaurant was near where we lived, I'd be back again.
I was not happy with this restaurant. We thought it looked great! Expected a great time, well, at least a nice meal anyways. The staff was either busy in another part of town, or on an hour long break all at once, but it was very annoying to have to wait so long for refills, and then to wait almost an hour for food, that had obviously sat under a warmer. The wait staff was incredibly rude and abrupt. I left a small tip, which is way more than the young girl deserved.
Great beer selection, fun menu and atmosphere. Food was luke warm when it arrived. Spoke to the mgr on duty and he took the food to warm up, but only warmed up the entree and not the side. Service sucked. I'd go again, but because of the beer selection, all 4 of which I got myself because my server was no where to be found.
I used to love Sanford's. The menu is massive and the decor is fun. But in the past few months, it's really gone downhill. Either they don't have enough staff or they need to hire better people, because each of the the past three times I went I had to wait 20 minutes after being seated for anyone to bring us a menu, the hostess was rude, the server never came back to offer us any refills and only appeared when it was time to collect the check.
I can deal with waiting lists when they're busy, but when the parking lot is only half full on a Friday night, there are many empty tables in the huge place and the hostess still has an unreasonable waiting list, management needs to schedule more employees. I doubt I'll go back to Sanford's anytime soon.
