For my mother's birthday, we decided I would take her to the Riverwalk Cafe. Neither of us had been there before. I had gone online and read 2 or 3 good reviews, so we figured we would enjoy the new experience. We got there late for lunch on Saturday (approx. 1:30 PM) - there were only about 4 or 5 tables occupied. This left us bewildered as to why it took about 15 minutes before we were asked what we would like to drink, and another 10-15 minutes what we would like to eat! With all of the time that we had available, we had long decided what we wanted. When the server finally came to take our order, my mother was told that they were out of her choice, the salad with fruit, and she had to come up with another option. By the time we got our food, there were only a couple tables busy. My mother was pleased with her Reuben sandwich, but both of us disappointed with the sweet potato chips, which were overly done, some actually black and inedible. My choice of the chicken wrap was completely bland and uninteresting. The first 1/2 of the wrap had almost all lettuce and barely any chicken. There was very little ranch dressing on it so it was pretty dry. The chicken had no taste - the ranch dressing was the only thing giving any taste or spice to the meal! The second 1/2 of the wrap had the majority of the chicken in it, but still almost no dressing. I had to ask for some on the side.
I went to the ladies room and, after washing my hands, found there was no paper towels. One of the servers was in the restroom also and said she would get some put in there. When it was time to leave (about 20 minutes later,) my mother went to the bathroom, only to discover she had to dry her hands on her pants, also!
When I went to pay for my food, I was asked by the gal at the cash register if everything had been OK. I told her that the chips had been overcooked. She said, 'OK', and that was that! No 'sorry that happened' or something to that effect.
Overall, the service was indifferent (they seemed rather bored) and slow. The food was adequate, but certainly not worth the $8.95 per plate that was spent! This was my one and only trip to the restaurant, and I will certainly not recommend it to friends or acquaintances.
