Sushi Masa Japanese Restaurant, Sioux Falls

Im from California and moving to sioux falls is a change, specially in the dinning area. Sushi masa is the best i found for sushi. It might be a bit small but everyone knows that the best restaurants are those in the holes in the wall. The food is delicious. I would just love it if they expanded :)

I used to eat there all the time when I traveled there. Great place. If you would have told me beforehand that SF has a decent sushi place, I wouldn't have believed you. They have these awesome steamed dumplings, and otherwise good food. Service, ambience all good too.

I have lived all over and traveled a many places and I think Sushi Masa has the best sushi you can ask for. My absolute favorite is the special cucumber roll. It is so refreshing and delicious. I never want to share it. Right now I'm figuring out how to get more before my visit in Sioux Falls is finshed. The wait staff has always been helpful is you aren't sure what is on the menu. You might wait but I'm positive you'll think it's worth it!

Dont be fooled, they DO NOT accept reservations. Strictly 1st come 1st served. Aside from that, expect a wait and GREAT!!!! sushi

We visited Sushi-Masa for the first time this weekend. We got there early and waitied until it opened and were seated right away. The staff was friendly and fast, and the chef smiled and nodded at us as we were seated. The food was incredible and we could not stop eating. We will most certainly visit again and again. It is a small place, so get there early. Our favorite things were the California rolls and the Spider rolls. A must try if you haven't already.

I have always been extremely happy with all the food I have eaten at Sushi Masa. The sushi is VERY fresh, and the teriyaki's and Katsu's are fantastic. The Scallop Katsu is by far my favorite, with it fruity-tangy dipping sauce. There might be a wait, but that means that they are consistently serving excellent food. Why not try a sure thing?

Thought it was wonderfull most sushi ive had in SD is not that great, Wonderfull and helpfull staff. short seating but thats what take out is for.

If you want an "aloof" waiter in a t-shirt to tell you "go down the street for 1 1/2 hours. We can call your cell if you like, that is the soonest we can seat you," then this is the place for you. Sushi Masa opens at 5pm. We arrived at 5:20. The parking was very limited. It is a teeny restaurant and once was the only game in town. Not that you can make reservations either! The sushi chefs do not even look you in the eye, let alone speak to you. The food is fine, service rather slow (but very polite once they get to you). Rather, there is very little seating, no reservations, very limited hours. We will very likely never return. So sorry, we do not recommend it.

I was talked into Sushi Masa by a date the first time. Gotta say, the thought of eating fish uncooked had me a little uneasy. What a great dining experience. If you wern't told it was uncooked you would never know. Loved the California rolls, and the wasabe! Have been there 6 times and loved it each time. Nice atmosphere, and great wait staff.

I've had sushi from New York to San Francisco, and this place is as good or better than any I've had. What a lucky break for those of us who moved to SD thinking good Japanese food was out of our reach.
