Visited Gold Fountain yesterday for the first time. The service was excellent and timely. I wouldn't recommend drinking the water. It tasted like dirty metal so we ordered pop instead. As for the food, the egg rolls tasted good but they were really small. The wonton soup tasted very bland and had an aftertaste of the water. We ate the Sesame Chicken and the Kung Pao Chicken for entrees. The Sesame Chicken was very good but very sweet so I couldn't eat a whole lot of it before it got kind of old. My friend liked the Kung Pao Chicken. The serving sizes were more than enough. We ordered our meals medium spicy but you could barely taste any spicyness. If your on a budget and not too picky this place is alright, otherwise I would recommend Willowgate as an alternative for the price.
Instead of ordering a menu selection, I asked for the house specialty. I was asked what I liked or didn't like and I responded appropriately. When I receieved the triple crown, it was quite possibly the worst flavored Chinese food I've ever eaten, and I've eaten a lot. The flavors clashed.
In all fairness, I think they recommended one of their nightly specials, perhaps eager to sell what was on hand rather than make something else, and its hard to say because I had good food there many years ago. I was sorry they were such a dissapointment.
