Hoa Bien Vietnamese Restaurant, St Paul

THUMBS UP: Good seating for party of 5+ at their round table. A very roomy and clean restaurant. THUMBS DOWN: Expensive food. The food was edible but not the greatest. The service was not the greatest. Cheap water down hand soap in the restroom. They should use real soap instead of water down soap. Gave a dirty cup filled with half cup water instead of topping it off to serve us. Tip was added to the party though I forgot to ask and gave a good amount of change. After a member of my party asked if we left tip since tip was already added, I went to correct my bill since there was no need to leave two tip if tip was already included within the bill. The cashier said, it's only .15% and that I could have just left my additional tip. A very awkward moment but thinking of the food and service, I paid my .15% tip along with my bill but took back my additional tip. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant.

MMMmmmMM, I love their food, then cream cheese wontons are the best i've had!! Very authentic food.

Good place to eat. I enjoy the restaurant and feel at home when I was there. The waiter and waitress are very nice. They listen to you and recommend to you the menu if you don't know what to eat.

The food is average for vietnamese food. The service is slow unless the waitress and waiters are expecting a nice big tip. Oh...about the bill, be careful...The bill is never the same and you will almost always be charged more than the actual price listed on the menu.

I just moved into the neighborhood from out of state (going to school @ St. Thomas), and this place is pretty good. They get my business at least once a week. The interior of the restaurant isn't 5 stars, but the food is authentic. It seems family owned, and everyone that's helped me always seemed genuinely kind. If you're looking for a good neighborhood place, I'd recommend this one. 4.5/5 stars. My favorite: Mustard Chicken Girlfriend's favorite: Vietnamese style fajitas. They're great.

i guess the banh xeo i tried was pretty good. but other than that, you can fine much better Vietnamese cuisines at other places. i don't really recommend hoa bien.

I have been going to this restaurant for the last several years. It has the best asian food on the planet and the egg rolls are so good you won't ever want to est chinese egg rolls again! The staff is friendly and attentive and they want customers to be happy. I give this restaurant five stars out of five.

this place has just opened a while ago.. i've ate here couple times and it's been a great experience. i ate noodles, spring rolls, salads, broken rice... everything is great. i would strongly recommend people to come eat here.. the place is big and roomy, and everything is very clean.
