Tavern on Grand
This is a dining destination with a following as big as the fish painted on the wall outside. Folks spill out onto the sidewalk waiting for a table. The northwoods atmosphere is the perfect setting for the famous walleye served up several different ways. If you have never tried walleye, the best deal is probably the Shore Lunch for USD8.50, offered daily until 4pm. The large bar is flanked by small tables. Larger groups can be seated in one of two dining rooms. In addition to walleye, you will find chicken, sandwiches, burgers and spaghetti, but walleye is king here.
Very disappointng with both hostess and waiter rude and inconsiderate. We waited for 5 minutes to be greeted. The hostess looked and acted appalled when we asked to move to a better table although the place was virtually empty. We waited over 20 minutes without drinks. When we inquired about them by getting up ourselves and going to the bar we were infomed that the waiter had not placed our drink order. Luckily we decided to leave before wasting any more of our time and money . We will never return for a personal outing and I will never bring any of my business clients here. A real blight on the typicallly friendly dining experiences in the St. Paul. Minus 100 star rating for us!
Tavern on Grand has the best walleye dinner fillet I've ever had, with a side of seasoned fries I would no doubt kill to eat there! A definite A ++ in my book and you must try it over and over again!!!!!
